About the author
A nazm by Tilok Chand Mehroom. Mehroom is counted among the notable Urdu poets who wrote powerful verse on themes of nature and the oneness (wahdat) of God. In 'Tarana-e-Wahdat' the poet shows that a single Divine presence and radiance can be seen shining through every single atom of creation.
Summary
भावार्थ: कायनात के हर ज़र्रे (कण) में तेरा ही ज़ुहूर (प्रकट होना) है। बिजली की कौंध और चिंगारी में भी तेरा ही नूर (रौशनी) है। तेरी कहानी हर जगह - क़रीब और दूर - फैली हुई है। पेड़ हवा में झूमते हुए न जाने क्या-क्या गाते हैं, और सारे परिंदे भी तेरी ही तारीफ़ में दम भरते (साँस लेते) हैं।
Meaning: in every single atom of creation, You are manifest. In lightning and sparks too, it is Your light. Your story is spread everywhere, near and far. The trees, swaying in the wind, sing who knows what, and every bird too breathes in praise of You.
भावार्थ: ऐसी कौन-सी जगह है जहाँ तेरा जल्वा (नूरानी झलक) मौजूद न हो? ऐसी कोई जगह नहीं जहाँ तू न हो। तारों की जो चमक-दमक है वह तेरी ही है, और बादल की जो गरज-कड़क सुनाई देती है वह भी तेरी ही है।
Meaning: where is there any place where Your radiance is not shining? There is no place where You are not present. The sparkle and glow of the stars is Yours, and the rumble and crash of thunder is Yours too.
भावार्थ: ऐ बाग़ की रौनक़ की वजह (कारण) बनने वाले! डालियों में जो लहक (झलमलाहट) और चहक है वह तेरी ही है। हर कली में तेरी ही मुस्कान (तबस्सुम) है, और हर फूल में भरी हुई ख़ुशबू भी तेरी ही है।
Meaning: O cause of the garden's beauty! The shimmer and rustle in the branches is Yours. In every bud is Your smile, and in every flower the fragrance held within it is Yours too.
भावार्थ: ख़ुश-आवाज़ परिंदों के नग़्मे (गीत) यह कहते हैं कि यह सारी चहक तेरी ही है। हर कली अपनी ज़बान से यही कहती है कि यह मेरी चहक नहीं, बल्कि तेरी ही चहक है।
Meaning: the songs of the sweet-voiced birds all declare that this warbling is Yours. Every single bud says in its own voice - this chirp is not mine, it is Yours.
