برسات کی بہاریں Barsaat ki Bahaarein (The Splendors of the Rains)

भावार्थ: इस बरसाती हवा में बरसात की कैसी-कैसी बहारें (रौनक़ें) हैं! हरियाली की लहलहाहट, बाग़ों की बहार, बूंदों की झमझमाहट, बूंद-बूंद की चमक - हर मौक़े पर, हर जगह तमाशे हो रहे हैं। दोस्तो, बरसात की कितनी बहारें मची हुई हैं!

Meaning: what wonders of the rains have broken out in this breeze! The rippling of greenery, the bloom of gardens, the pattering of raindrops, the sparkle of drops - there are spectacles at every turn, everywhere. Friends, what wonders of the monsoon have broken loose!

भावार्थ: हर जगह हरी घास हरे-हरे बिछौने की तरह बिछती जा रही है, क़ुदरत के ये हरे बिछौने चारों तरफ़ बिछ रहे हैं। जंगल में भी हरे बिछौने पैदा हो रहे हैं - अल्लाह ने कैसे-कैसे हरे बिछौने बिछवा दिए हैं!

Meaning: green grass is spreading everywhere like green carpets, nature's green carpets are being laid out on every side. Green carpets are springing up in the forest too - what green carpets God has had spread out!

भावार्थ: ऐ रब! तूने अपनी क़ुदरत के कैसे-कैसे साज़-ओ-सामान रचे हैं। तेरी क़ुदरत हर पल कैसे-कैसे रंग बदलती है। सब लोग तेरी क़ुदरत को पहचानकर मस्त हुए जा रहे हैं और ज़ोर से पुकार रहे हैं - सुब्हान तेरी क़ुदरत (तेरी क़ुदरत पाक है)!

Meaning: O Lord, what wonders of equipment Your power has arranged! Your power changes its colours every single moment. Everyone is growing enraptured, recognising Your power, and calling out loudly - glory be to Your power!

भावार्थ: जो लोग मस्त हैं, वे उस तरफ़ शोर मचाते हुए नाचते हैं। अपने प्यारे का नाम लेकर बड़े ज़ोर से नाचते हैं। बादल हवा के साथ घुमड़-घुमड़ कर, घनघोर होकर मानो नाच रहे हैं। मेंढक उछल रहे हैं और मोर नाच रहे हैं।

Meaning: those who are rapturous over there dance amid clamour. Taking the name of their beloved, they dance with great vigour. The clouds, driven by the wind, gather thick and dark as if dancing. Frogs are leaping and peacocks are dancing.

भावार्थ: बग़ैर रुके क़ुमरी (एक पंछी) कू-कू पुकारती है, पपीहा पी-पी करता है, बगुला तू-तू पुकारता है। कहीं बदबद पंछी हक़-हक़ बोलते हैं, कहीं फ़ाख़्ते (कबूतर की जाति) हू-हू करते हैं। हर पंख वाला, चाहे कोई भी पंछी हो, सब तेरा ही नाम रटते नज़र आते हैं।

Meaning: without pause the qumri (turtledove) calls koo-koo, the papeeha cries pee-pee, the crane calls too-too. Somewhere the badbad birds cry haq-haq, somewhere the doves coo hoo-hoo. Every winged creature, whichever bird it may be, seems to be chanting Your name alone.

भावार्थ: इस मौसम में जहाँ तक नज़र जाती है, बाग़-बग़ीचे भीग रहे हैं। शहर, गाँव, गलियाँ, बाज़ार - सब भीग रहे हैं। रेगिस्तान, झाड़ियाँ, पौधे, पहाड़ियाँ भी भीग रही हैं। आशिक़ निहार रहे हैं और उनके दिलदार (प्रिय) भी भीग रहे हैं। दोस्तो, बरसात की कितनी बहारें मची हुई हैं!

Meaning: in this season, as far as the eye can see, gardens are getting drenched. Towns, settlements, lanes and bazaars are getting drenched. Deserts, thickets, plants and hillsides are getting drenched. Lovers gaze on, and their beloveds too are getting drenched. Friends, what wonders of the monsoon have broken loose!
