ننھی بوند کا حوصلہ Nanhi Boond ka Hausla (The Little Drop's Courage)

भावार्थ: एक बार बरसात में ऐसा हुआ कि एक ननھی बूँद आँखें मीचे हुए बादल का साथ छोड़कर चल पड़ी - सर्द, लंबी, घुप अंधेरी रात में एक भयानक और लंबे सफ़र पर। साँस अंदर खींचती हुई, हिचकिचाती हुई वह मन ही मन डरने लगी - कहीं आग में जा गिरूँ, कहीं धूल में मिल जाऊँ, रास्ता भी कुछ नज़र नहीं आता, कहीं मेरा अपना पता भी न रह जाए, और कहीं मौत ही मेरी ताक में न बैठी हो!

Meaning: once, during the rains, it so happened that a tiny raindrop, eyes shut, left the cloud's side and set out - into a cold, long, pitch-dark night, on a fearsome and long journey. Drawing her breath in, hesitating, she began to fear within her heart - what if I fall into fire, what if I mix into dust, no path is visible at all, what if I even lose all trace of myself, and what if death itself is lying in wait for me!

भावार्थ: फिर उसने सोचा कि क़िस्मत में जो लिखा है, अपना अंजाम सोच-सोच कर मैं क्यों डरूँ? डर से मरने से पहले ही मैं क्यों मर जाऊँ? क्या ज़रूरी है कि मैं रेत पर ही गिरूँ - यह भी तो मुमकिन है कि मैं किसी खेत पर गिरूँ। काँटे पर गिरने से मुझे किस बात का डर? यह भी तो मुमकिन है कि मैं किसी की प्यास बुझा दूँ। यह सोचकर बूँद ने अपना फ़ैसला ख़ुदा पर छोड़ दिया, उसके दिल में हौसला पैदा हो गया। फिर बे-परवा और ख़ुशी में झूमती हुई वह दरिया पर आ गई और उससे जा मिली।

Meaning: then she thought - whatever is written in fate, why should I fear by dwelling on my own end? Why die of fear before actually dying? Is it necessary that I fall only on sand - it is just as possible that I fall on a field. Why should falling on a thorn frighten me - it is just as possible that I quench someone's thirst. Thinking this, the drop left her decision to God, and courage was born in her heart. Then, carefree and swaying with joy, she reached the river and merged with it.

भावार्थ: उसी दरिया में एक सीपी खुली हुई थी। बूँद उसी सीपी में जा गिरी और मोती बन गई।

Meaning: in that very river an oyster lay open. The drop fell right into it and became a pearl.
