About the author
Sumitranandan Pant was born in 1900 in Kausani, Uttarakhand, and passed away in 1977. He is considered one of the four pillars of the Chhayavad movement in Hindi literature. His major works include Pallav, Chidambara, Gramya, and Lokayatan. He was honoured with the Jnanpith Award for Chidambara, the Sahitya Akademi Award for Kala aur Budha Chand, and the Padma Bhushan. Nature, humanity, and spirituality are the central themes of his poetry.
Summary
कवि बताते हैं कि सभी इंसान एक ही मिट्टी से बने हैं। सब के अंदर एक जैसी आत्मा है। इसलिए कोई छोटा या बड़ा नहीं होता। जात-पात और धर्म के नाम पर झगड़ना गलत है।
The poet says that the human body is made of the same clay and the same consciousness fills every living being. All humans born on earth are children of the same supreme power. Discrimination in the name of caste and religion is a denial of the fundamental unity of humanity.
सूरज सबको बराबर रोशनी देता है, हवा सबको एक जैसी मिलती है, पानी सब पर बराबर बरसता है। प्रकृति कभी भेदभाव नहीं करती। इसी तरह हमें भी सबके साथ बराबरी का व्यवहार करना चाहिए।
In this stanza the poet conveys the message of human unity through nature. The sun, wind, water, and earth give life equally to all and do not discriminate. The poet suggests that just as nature treats everyone equally, humans should do the same.
कवि कहते हैं कि दूसरों से प्यार करो और उनकी तकलीफ में काम आओ। अपने बारे में सोचने के साथ-साथ दूसरों के बारे में भी सोचो। जो इंसान दूसरों की मदद करता है वही सच्चा इंसान होता है।
The poet urges all humans to make love and compassion the foundation of their lives. Feeling another's pain as your own and being ready to help is true humanity. The person who rises above selfishness and does good for others is the one who passes the test of humanity.
कवि सपना देखते हैं कि पूरी दुनिया एक परिवार बन जाए। कोई लड़ाई न हो, कोई नफरत न हो। सब मिलजुल कर रहें। जब हर इंसान दूसरे को अपना भाई समझेगा तो यह दुनिया बहुत सुंदर हो जाएगी।
In the final stanza the poet imagines a world where all humans live like brothers, where there is no war and no hatred. The poet believes that awakening this feeling of humanity is the supreme purpose of poetry and literature. If every person considers humanity above all else, the earth can become heaven.
