  5. Verse 5

In that [place], thronged with a hundred [kinds of] musical instruments, crowded with gandharvas and apsarases, Rāma set his feet toward the water of the Sarayū.

Then the Grandfather spoke an utterance from the sky: "Come, O Viṣṇu; blessings upon you; by good fortune you have arrived, O Rāghava.

For you are the recourse of the worlds, O god; none know you, save by the māyā, O wide-eyed one, that is your possession of old.

Hearing the Grandfather's word, having made his resolve, that one of great mind entered the Vaiṣṇava splendor, with his body, together with his younger brothers.

All was glad and delighted, all with desires fulfilled; "Bravo, bravo!" — all that heaven became, its impurity gone.

  15. Verse 15

ime hi sarve snehān mām anuyātā manasvinaḥ | bhaktā bhājayitavyāś ca tyaktātmānaś ca matkṛte

For all these high-minded ones have followed me out of affection; devoted [to me], they are to be rewarded, and they have given up their very selves for my sake."

  16. Verse 16

  17. Verse 17

yac ca tiryaggataṃ kiṃ cid rāmam evānucintayat | prāṇāṃs tyakṣyati bhaktyā vai saṃtāne tu nivatsyati | sarvair eva guṇair yukte brahmalokād anantare

And whatever creature gone to the animal state has meditated upon Rāma alone, and out of devotion shall give up its life-breaths, shall dwell in Santāna, endowed with all virtues, [the world] next after the world of Brahmā."

  18. Verse 18

vānarāś ca svakāṃ yonim ṛkṣāś caiva tathā yayuḥ | yebhyo viniḥsṛtā ye ye surādibhyaḥ susaṃbhavāḥ

And the vānaras went to their own source, and the bears likewise — [returning] to those from whom they had each issued, well-born from the gods and the rest.

  19. Verse 19

To the sages, to the nāgas and yakṣas — [the vānaras and bears] attained those very [sources] from which [they had sprung]. When the lord of gods had thus spoken, they came to Gopratāra.

  20. Verse 20

bhejire sarayūṃ sarve harṣapūrṇāśruviklavāḥ | avagāhya jalaṃ yo yaḥ prāṇī hy āsīt prahṛṣṭavat

All betook themselves to the Sarayū, overcome with tears full of joy; whichever living being plunged into the water was [thereby] made joyful.

  21. Verse 21

mānuṣaṃ deham utsṛjya vimānaṃ so 'dhyarohata | tiryagyonigatāś cāpi saṃprāptāḥ sarayūjalam

Having cast off its human body, it ascended an aerial car; and those gone to the animal birth too, reaching the water of the Sarayū —

  22. Verse 22

divyā divyena vapuṣā devā dīptā ivābhavan | gatvā tu sarayūtoyaṃ sthāvarāṇi carāṇi ca

divine, with a divine form, they became gods, as if blazing [with light]. And having gone to the water of the Sarayū, the immobile and moving [beings] —

  23. Verse 23

prāpya tat toyavikledaṃ devalokam upāgaman | devānāṃ yasya yā yonir vānarā ṛṣka rākṣasāḥ

reaching that immersion in the water, they came to the world of the gods. [To] whichever source among the gods each belonged — the vānaras, bears, and rākṣasas —

  24. Verse 24

tām eva viviśuḥ sarve devān nikṣipya cāmbhasi | tathā svargagataṃ sarvaṃ kṛtvā lokagurur divam

into that very [source] all entered, [their divine forms] being laid in the water. Thus, having made everything go to heaven, the preceptor of the worlds, to heaven,

  25. Verse 25

jagāma tridaśaiḥ sārdhaṃ hṛṣṭair hṛṣṭo mahāmatiḥ

went, together with the thirty gods, joyful [himself] among the joyful — that one of great mind.
