నేనెరిగిన బూర్గుల Neneerigina Burgula

సమాజంలో కొద్దిమందే ప్రభావశక్తి ఉన్నవారు ఉంటారు. వారి గురించి తెలుసుకుంటే స్ఫూర్తి కలుగుతుంది. అలాంటివారిలో బూర్గుల రామకృష్ణారావు ఒకరు. ఆయన హైదరాబాదు రాష్ట్రానికి తొలి ముఖ్యమంత్రి.

Only a few people in society are truly influential. Knowing about them inspires us. Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, the first Chief Minister of Hyderabad State, was one such inspiring person.

బూర్గులవారు ఎప్పుడు పుట్టారు, పూనాలో పర్షియన్ భాష చదివారు, న్యాయవాది అయ్యారు, మంత్రి, ముఖ్యమంత్రి, గవర్నరుగా పనిచేశారు అని చరిత్ర చెబుతుంది. కానీ ఇంత మాత్రాన ఆయన అసలు వ్యక్తిత్వం మనకు అర్థంకాదు.

Historians record when Burgula was born, his Persian studies at Fergusson College in Pune, his career as advocate, leader, minister, chief minister, and governor of two states. All of that is true, yet it does not reveal his real personality.

చాలామంది తాము ఉన్నదానికంటే గొప్పగా కనపడాలని ప్రయత్నిస్తారు. బూర్గులవారు మాత్రం ఉన్నది ఉన్నట్లే చెప్పేవారు. తమ పొట్టి శరీరం గురించి కూడా తామే చమత్కారంగా నవ్వుకునేవారు. అవసరమైనప్పుడు వామనమూర్తిలా తమ విరాట్ రూపాన్ని చూపేవారు.

People usually paint themselves grander than they are; Burgula, by contrast, stated even his own shortcomings just as they were. He himself joked good-naturedly about his short stature. When needed he displayed a vast presence, like the Vamana avatar, then returned to his ordinary self once the work was done.

న్యాయవాదిగా ఆయన కేసులు ఎక్కువగా రాజకీయ సంబంధమైనవి, ఫీజు లేనివి. కేసును పూర్తిగా చదివే తీరిక ఉండకపోయినా, శ్రద్ధగా విని కొన్ని రేఖామాత్రపు నోట్లే రాసుకుని, కోర్టులో గొప్పగా వాదించేవారు. జూనియరుగా ఉన్న పి.వి.ని ప్రోత్సహించి ఆత్మవిశ్వాసం నింపారు.

As an advocate his cases were mostly political and without fees. Though he had no time to study a case thoroughly, he listened carefully, jotted bare outline notes, and argued brilliantly and impregnably in court. He nurtured the junior P. V. with a mother's love for her youngest child and filled him with self-confidence.

జాగీర్దారీ కుటుంబంలో పుట్టినా, జాగీర్దారీ వ్యవస్థను రద్దు చేశారు. దున్నేవాడికి భూమి హక్కు ఇచ్చే కౌలుదారీ చట్టాన్ని చేశారు. తన రాజకీయ ప్రాబల్యం దెబ్బతింటుందని తెలిసినా, ఇతరులకు మేలు చేసే నిర్ణయాలే తీసుకున్నారు.

Though born into a jagirdari family, he did not hesitate to abolish the centuries-old jagirdari system. He framed the tenancy law granting land rights to the tiller and pioneered a socialist order. Even knowing it would harm his political power, he made self-sacrificing decisions that benefited others, and once a decision was made he stood firm on it.

ఆయన సౌజన్యానికి మారుపేరు. మతదురభిమానం లేకుండా అన్ని మతాలవారిని ఆదరించేవారు. ఆయన డ్రాయింగు రూం ఒక సంస్కృతి ప్రదర్శనశాలలా ఉండేది. ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా రాత్రి ఫైళ్లు చూసి, ఆ తర్వాత ఉత్సాహంతో సంస్కృత కావ్యాలు చదివేవారు.

Sharafat (graciousness) was his very name. Free of communal bias he welcomed people of every group, and his drawing room was like a museum of cultures. With wit and refined speech he set high standards in the legislature. As chief minister he reviewed files past midnight and then, with incredible enthusiasm, read ancient Sanskrit classics.

ఆయన అందరికీ ఆత్మీయ తండ్రిలా ఉండేవారు. ఎవరైనా ఎక్కడైనా ఆపి కష్టసుఖాలు చెప్పుకోవచ్చు. విజయాలకు ఉప్పొంగక, కష్టాలకు కుంగక సమచిత్తంగా ఉండేవారు. ఒక్కమాటలో చెప్పాలంటే ఆయన పూర్ణపురుషుడు.

Everywhere he was like an affectionate father whom anyone could stop to share their joys and sorrows. Even when calamities surrounded him like an army, he did not waver; he neither swelled with victory nor sank with hardship, never abandoning his courage and equanimity. When friends betrayed or rivals abused him he only said, "Well, these were all part of the game." In a word, he was a complete man.
