నేను పచ్చగా ఉన్నప్పుడు కోయిలలు కూసాయి, నేలతల్లి ఆనందించింది.

When I was green with branches and leaves, everyone praised me; Mother Earth rejoiced and even Madhava loved me.

ఎన్ని వసంతాలు వచ్చినా నాకు లాభమేమీ లేదు; ఎండిపోయి మొద్దుగా మారాను.

Springs and festival days pass but I dry and become a stump - no one hears my cry.

నా మొర నాలుగురెవరు వినరు; ఎవరూ ఒక కన్నీటి చుక్క రాల్చరు.

I can stir the mind but no one sheds a tear or listens to my lament.

నా కొమ్మలు, నారమ్మలు నరికి తీసుకుంటున్నారు; నన్ను పీల్చి పిప్పి చేస్తున్నారు.

People cut my branches, crush my tender shoots, use me up and rejoice.

నేను పళ్ళు, కాయలతో నిండుగా ఉన్నప్పుడు నేలతల్లి పులకించింది.

When I was full of fruit, Mother Earth rejoiced, cuckoos sang and swarms of bees hummed on my branches.

చెట్టు ఉండాలంటే నరువకుండా, పెంచుకోవాలి.

The tree's plea urges us to protect trees for rain, climate and life itself.
