Palai Padiya Perunkadungo: a king of the Chera line, named so because he sang the Palai (arid-land) thinai in the Kalithogai.

தலைவன் உன்மீது பெரும் விருப்பம் உடையவன்; உனக்கு அன்பும் கொடைகளும் வழங்குவான்.

பெண் யானையின் பசியைப் போக்கும் பொருட்டு, பெரிய துதிக்கையை உடைய ஆண் யானை முயல்கிறது.

To drive away the hunger of the female elephant, the bull elephant with its great trunk takes pains.

மெல்லிய கிளைகளை உடைய யா மரத்தின் பட்டையை அந்த ஆண் யானை உரித்து, உள்ளே உள்ள நீரைப் பெண் யானைக்குத் தருகிறது.

It peels the bark of the soft-branched 'yaa' tree and lets the female drink the moisture within, showing its love.

தோழி, அவர் சென்ற வழி இப்படிப்பட்ட அன்பு நிறைந்த வழி; எனவே அவர் கட்டாயம் அன்போடு திரும்புவார்.
