காசிக்காண்டம் Kasikkandam

ஒருவர் விருந்தினராக நம் வீட்டிற்கு வந்தால், அவரைக் கண்டதும் மகிழ்ந்து வியந்து, நல்ல இனிய சொற்களைப் பேச வேண்டும். முகம் மலர்ந்து அவரை அன்போடு பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

When a guest arrives and stands before you, marvel at their coming, speak kind words sweetly, and look upon them with a bright, welcoming face.

'வீட்டிற்குள் வருக' என்று அன்போடு அழைக்க வேண்டும். விருந்தினர் வரும்வரை அவருக்கு எதிரில் நின்று காத்திருக்க வேண்டும்.

Invite them warmly to come in, and stand before them to receive them as they enter.

விருந்தினர் மனம் மகிழும்படி இனிய சொற்களைப் பேச வேண்டும். அவர் அருகிலேயே அமர்ந்து அன்போடு உரையாட வேண்டும்.

Speak so as to gladden their heart, and sit right beside them in friendly company.

விருந்தினர் விடைபெற்றுச் செல்லும்போது, வாயில்வரை அவரைப் பின் தொடர்ந்து சென்று வழியனுப்ப வேண்டும். புகழ்ச்சியாக நலம் வினவி இனிய முகமன் சொல்லி அனுப்ப வேண்டும்.

When the guest takes leave, follow them up to the doorway, and send them off with praise and a kind, well-wishing word.

இவ்வாறு செய்யும் இந்த ஒன்பது செயல்களும் சேர்ந்ததே விருந்தோம்பல். இதுவே சிறந்த இல்லற ஒழுக்கமும், கடவுளை வழிபடுவதற்கு இணையான நற்பண்பும் ஆகும்.
