दहेज का रिवाज एक बुराई है। पैसे के लालच में अच्छे रिश्ते भी टूट जाते हैं और लड़की के परिवार की बेइज़्ज़ती होती है।
The dowry system is an evil: out of greed for money even good matches break, and the girl's family is humiliated.
रंग-रूप से किसी की कीमत नहीं आँकनी चाहिए। साँवली होने पर मीनू को बार-बार ठुकराया जाना समाज की गलत सोच दिखाता है।
A person's worth should not be judged by skin colour; Minu being rejected again for being dark-complexioned shows society's wrong thinking.
बेटी बोझ नहीं है। होशियार होते हुए भी मीनू को बोझ समझा जाना समाज की तंग सोच पर चोट है।
A daughter is not a burden: that the talented Minu is treated as a burden is a blow against society's narrow mindset.
पढ़ाई ही असली ताक़त है। मीनू की पढ़ाई और लगन ही उसे ‘नया रास्ता’ चुनने की हिम्मत देती है।

अपने पैरों पर खड़ा होना ही हल है। दूसरों के सहारे रहने के बजाय खुद कमाना ही लड़की की असली आज़ादी है।
