Summary
On the final day of the school's sports competitions, all championship matches were to take place, and students, teachers and parents gathered on the playground. For the kabaddi final, teams from the sixth and seventh grades entered to a burst of applause. The sixth grade's captain won the coin toss and began his raid, but the ready players of seventh grade cornered him - one boy grabbed his leg while a teammate pounced and caught him. The crowd erupted in loud cheers, and the match grew exciting from the very start.
Seventh grade's morale rose, and their star player Sawant went in to raid - a lad of considerable strength and sturdy build. Sixth grade's players formed a chain to trap him, but Sawant broke through and dashed back to the midline, sending three sixth-grade players out, which delighted the crowd. Next, sixth grade's tenacious Sule went in to raid - a boy of small build but great reputation. As one player lunged to grab his legs, Sule placed a hand on his back, leapt over him cleanly, and dashed back to his side, breathing new life into the sixth grade's team.
Sawant went in confidently to raid again, but as his breath began to run out, sixth grade's captain grabbed his leg and the players lifted him bodily - Sawant was out, and the crowd broke into thunderous applause. After ten minutes the referee blew the whistle for a break. Five minutes later, sides switched and play resumed, with sixth grade's captain urging his team to play with confidence. Sixth grade launched an aggressive attack, resolving not to let seventh grade's players even cross the line, catching them one after another with fierce determination. As a result, seventh grade's captain Sawant and all five remaining players were put out, and a wave of celebration broke out among the sixth-grade team as they swept the opposing side entirely.
As both teams played neck and neck, time ran out and the referee blew the final whistle - sixth grade emerged victorious and seventh grade lost. Yet after the result, the captains of both teams embraced each other, the crowd applauded, and the teachers came forward to praise and pat both teams on the back. The author closes admiringly: 'What a thrilling match it was! No quarrel, no dispute - yet how much fire in the game! That is how a match should be!' - beautifully capturing the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition.
