Summary
Right at the start, the poetess declares that Bharatmata (Mother India) is the dearest of all to us, and we are all her children. Though the people of India may differ in colour, language and culture ('different scents'), we are all flowers that have bloomed and blossomed from the very same soil - through this, the poetess conveys that despite our diversity, we are all bound to the same earth, the same mother.
In the next stanza the poetess describes India's natural beauty - she loves the soil of this land, the gently gurgling water, the fields swaying in the breeze, and the rustling wind. Through these simple, everyday elements of nature, the poetess beautifully expresses her deep love for the country.
The poetess goes on to celebrate India's geographical features - the tall, white Himalaya, touching the sky, is dear to her, as are the Sahyadri and Vindhya mountain ranges. And the sacred rivers Ganga and Yamuna are equally dear to her. In this way, the poetess weaves together, in a single song, the diverse beauty of the whole of India - the Himalaya in the north, the river systems in between, and the mountain ranges in the south.
At the end of the poem, the poetess says that Bharatmata has taught the whole world that all human beings are equal, and because her children are virtuous, she has become beloved to the entire world. In the final stanza, the poetess once again calls Bharatmata her 'dearest' and expresses her resolve to bow to her, pledging as her beloved children to always hold her flag high.
