सर्वात्मका शिवसुंदरा Sarvatmaka Shivasundara (O Auspicious Universal Spirit)

कवी सुरुवातीलाच परमेश्वराला नमस्कार करतात. ते त्याला 'सर्वांमध्ये वसणारा, कल्याणकारी व सुंदर' असे संबोधतात आणि विनंती करतात की त्याने आपले जीवन अंधारातून उजेडाकडे न्यावे - म्हणजे अज्ञान व दुःखातून बाहेर काढून ज्ञान व सुखाकडे न्यावे.

At the very start the poet bows to God and addresses him as one who dwells within everything and who is auspicious and beautiful. The poet humbly asks God to accept this salutation and to lead his life from darkness towards light - where darkness stands for ignorance and sorrow, and light for knowledge and happiness.

पुढे कवी सांगतात की परमेश्वर फक्त एका जागी नसतो. तो फुलांत असतो, आकाशात असतो, चमकणाऱ्या ताऱ्यांतही तोच फुलतो. या जगात जो जो चांगुलपणा, नीतिमत्ता आढळते त्या प्रत्येक चांगल्या गोष्टीतही तोच वसलेला असतो. म्हणून कवीला सगळीकडे त्याचेच रूप दिसते.

In the second stanza the poet says that God's presence is not confined to one place. He is present in flowers, in the sky, and he blooms among the shimmering stars as well. Wherever righteousness and goodness are found in this world, God dwells there too. Because of this, the poet's mind senses God's form everywhere around him.

मग कवी म्हणतात की परमेश्वर शेतात कष्ट करणाऱ्या श्रमिकांबरोबरही राबतो. जे दुःखी व गांजलेले असतात त्यांचे अश्रू तोच पुसतो. आणि जिथे कोणी स्वार्थाचा विचार न करता निरपेक्ष सेवा करतो, तिथेही परमेश्वराचेच पवित्र पाऊल असते.

In the third stanza the poet says that God himself is imagined to labour alongside the workers toiling in the fields. He is also the one who wipes away the tears of those who are pained and troubled by sorrow. Furthermore, wherever service is rendered without any selfish motive, God's sacred presence rests there. Through this the poet honours labour and selfless service.

चौथ्या कडव्यात कवी सांगतात की जे न्यायासाठी रणांगणात लढतात त्यांच्या हातातली तलवारही जणू परमेश्वराचेच रूप आहे. जे अंधारात आपल्या ध्येयाकडे चालत राहतात त्यांच्या मनात तोच दीपासारखा प्रकाश देतो. आणि जे ज्ञान मिळवण्यासाठी तपस्या करतात त्या मुनींची साधनाही तोच असतो.

In the fourth stanza the poet says that the sword in the hands of warriors fighting for justice, the inner lamp that guides those who walk steadfastly towards their goal even through darkness, and the disciplined practice of sages seeking knowledge - in all three of these, God's form is present. In other words, the poet regards God as the ultimate source of courage, perseverance and the pursuit of knowledge.

शेवटच्या कडव्यात कवी परमेश्वराला 'करुणाकरा' म्हणून हाक मारतात आणि सांगतात की त्याची करुणा असेल तर आपल्याला कशाचीही भीती वाटणार नाही. पुढच्या वाटचालीत आपण नेहमी त्याच्याच पावलांचा मागोवा घेऊ. आणि शेवटी अशी इच्छा व्यक्त करतात की आपल्या हृदयातील सृजनशक्ती भीतीशिवाय सदैव जागी राहावी.

In the final stanza the poet addresses God as the compassionate one and says that with his mercy no fear can remain, and that on the path ahead he will always follow in God's footsteps. Finally the poet prays that the creative spirit within his heart may stay forever awake, free from fear. The prayer thus closes with a plea for compassion, fearlessness and lasting creativity.
