Summary

In the first part of the poem, the poetess expresses her wish that lightning strike once again in the sky, descending to run through people's very blood and ignite their muscles. Lightning here symbolises energy and vitality - she yearns for it to course through people so that they might once more raise their voice fiercely, calling out with renewed intensity.

In the second part, the poetess wishes that rain showers fall once again in wild abandon, and that the earth's different soils merge into one. Here, 'soil becoming one' symbolises the erasure of social divisions - caste, religion, class - so that all people become equal. Just as rain showers merge into the earth, the poetess longs for a similarly powerful wave to sweep through society once more, dissolving all differences.

In the final part of the poem, the poetess wishes that the wind roar powerfully once again, and that the youth of this land be charged with its energy - so intensely that they forget hunger and thirst. Through this surge of energy, she hopes the youth will sense the stirrings of renewal, and that this will illuminate the entire land to its farthest horizons. Through the three natural forces of lightning, rain and wind, the poetess expresses her yearning for a revolution of fresh vitality and social equality to sweep through society.
