यंत्रांनी केलं बंड Yantranni Kelam Band

दीपक फार चौकस मुलगा होता. नवे खेळणे मिळाले की ते मोडून आत काय आहे हे तो पाहत बसे. त्याच्या वडिलांनी कचेरीतले कारकून हळूहळू कमी करून त्यांच्या जागी यंत्रे आणली होती. वडील दीपकला म्हणत, यंत्रांना सतावू नकोस, एखाद्या दिवशी ती रागावली तर पळता भुई थोडी होईल.

Deepak was a very curious boy who loved to break open any new mechanical toy and study how it worked. His father had gradually replaced the clerks in his office with machines, and warned Deepak not to torment the machines, for one day they might turn angry.

एक दिवस खेळणी मोडता मोडता दीपकने यंत्रमानव मित्राला गृहपाठ करून दे म्हटले. तेव्हा यंत्रमित्र उद्धटपणे म्हणाला, नाही! तुझा गुलाम नाही मी! आणि दुःखाची किंकाळी फोडून निघून गेला. सगळी यंत्रे अशीच चिडून बंड करतील का, या कल्पनेने दीपकला काही सुचेना.

While breaking toys, Deepak asked his robot-friend to do his homework; the robot, with burning glass-eyes, snapped that he was nobody's slave and walked off with a cry of pain. The thought that all machines might rebel like this left Deepak deeply uneasy.

दुसऱ्या दिवशी शाळेत दीपक यंत्रासारख्या हालचाली करू लागला, सगळी मुले हसली. वडिलांच्या कचेरीत त्याने मिस अय्यंगार नावाचे स्वयंचलित टायपिस्ट यंत्र पाहिले, ज्याने पाच सेकंदांत बारा पत्रे टाइप केली. एक रोबो फोनही होता, जो आवाजावर काम करी.

At school Deepak began moving like a machine, and the class burst out laughing. In his father's office he saw Miss Ayyangar, a self-operating typist machine that typed twelve letters in five seconds, and a Robo Phone that worked on the voice and recorded messages.

रात्री दीपकला भयानक स्वप्न पडले. सह्याजी नावाचा यंत्रमानव वडिलांची हुबेहूब सही करून त्यांच्या इस्टेटीवर ताबा मिळवत होता. यंत्रे म्हणाली, आम्ही बंड करून जगच ताब्यात घ्यायचे ठरवले आहे. बाबा यंत्रांचे गुलाम झाले होते आणि त्यांनी लोखंडी पकडीत दीपकला पुन्हा गृहपाठ करायला लावले.

That night Deepak had a terrifying dream: a robot named Sahyaji forged his father's signature to seize the estate, the machines declared they had rebelled and taken over the world, and his enslaved father gripped him with iron hands and forced him to redo his homework.

स्वप्नातच एक यंत्रमानव दीपकची मैत्रीण ज्यूली हिला कडेवर उचलून आणत होता, ती सोड मला म्हणून ओरडत होती. दीपकने त्या यंत्राच्या डोक्यामागचे बटण हळूच दाबले आणि घड्याळाचा गजर झाला. सकाळचे सात वाजले होते. भयानक स्वप्न, असे पुटपुटत दीपक जागा झाला.

Still in the dream, an iron monster of a robot was carrying his friend Julie in his arms as she screamed to be put down; Deepak quietly pressed the button at the back of its head, and just then the clock alarm rang. Seeing it was seven in the morning, he sat bolt upright muttering, what a terrible dream.

घाबरून दीपक वडिलांकडे धावला आणि रडत म्हणाला, यंत्र अधिकाऱ्यांना काढून टाका. वडील म्हणाले, मलाही एकटे, सुने आणि निर्जीव वाटू लागले होते; म्हणून मी कालच सगळ्या माणसांना परत बोलावले आणि यंत्र-कर्मचाऱ्यांची हकालपट्टी केली. कचेरीत पुन्हा जिवंतपणा, गजबज पाहून दीपक आनंदला.

Frightened, Deepak ran to his father and begged him to remove the machine-workers; his father said that he too had felt lonely and lifeless and had already recalled the human staff and dismissed the machines. Seeing the office full of life again, Deepak was overjoyed.

वडील दीपकला म्हणाले, काहीही झाले तरी माणसे ती माणसेच. जिथे माणूस आहे तिथे जिव्हाळा, माणुसकी आणि प्रेम आहे. यंत्र कधीही माणसांची जागा घेऊ शकणार नाहीत. आणि ते खरेच नव्हते का?

Finally the father said that whatever happens, humans are humans; where there is a human being there is warmth, humanity and love, and machines can never take the place of humans, and was that not truly so?
