कवी म्हणतात, कंबर बांधून तयार व्हा आणि येणारे घाव झेलायला उठा. महाराष्ट्रावरून आपले शरीर ओवाळून टाका, म्हणजे या भूमीसाठी जिवाचेही बलिदान द्यायला तयार राहा.

The poet calls people to gird up, rise and bear the coming blows; love this land so much that you would offer your very body for Maharashtra. This refrain returns through the whole poem.

महाराष्ट्ररूपी मंदिरापुढे यशाची ज्योत तेवते आहे. खाली सोन्यासारखी सुपीक जमीन आहे आणि वर निळे आकाश पसरले आहे. गड पोवाडे गातात आणि महारथी वीर या भूमीला शोभा आणतात. अरबी समुद्र तिच्या पायांशी येऊन लागतो.

Before the temple that is Maharashtra burns the lamp of glory; below lies golden fertile soil and above the blue sky spreads wide. The forts sing ballads (powade) and great warriors adorn her; the Arabian Sea comes to lie at her feet.

ही धैर्यवान लोकांची, राज्य करणाऱ्या वीरांची मातृभूमी आहे. ती घाम गाळणाऱ्या कष्टकऱ्यांची, खुरप्या-दोरीने काम करणाऱ्या शेतकऱ्यांची आहे; संतांची आणि शाहिरांची आहे, त्यागाच्या तलवारीची आहे. म्हणून आता त्या थोर शिवरायांचे स्मरण करा.

This is the homeland of the brave and of ruling heroes; of sweat and toil, of the sickle and the rope (of laborers and farmers); of saints and balladeers and the sword of sacrifice. So now remember the great leader Chhatrapati Shivaji.
