आपले जगणे हीच आपली ओळख आहे. म्हणून अर्धवट, उसने जगू नकोस. दिव्यासारखा होऊन जगाला उजळव, पण चाकूसारखा होऊन कोणाला कापू (दुखवू) नकोस.

Our living is our identity, so do not live half-heartedly or borrowed. Become a lamp and light up the world; do not become a knife that cuts others.

रोज वाचन आणि लेखन कर; एकही क्षण कामाशिवाय वाया घालवू नकोस. रोजचा अभ्यास (परवचा) आणि व्यायाम केल्याशिवाय झोपायला जाऊ नकोस.

Read and write every day; do not waste even a moment without work. Do not go to sleep without daily study and exercise.

पावित्र्याची वस्त्रे अंगावर घे, फाटक्या चिंध्यांसारखा (पटकुर) पसरू नकोस. शोभेपेक्षाही स्वच्छता श्रेष्ठ आहे; हा मूळमंत्र विसरू नकोस.

Wear the garments of purity; do not lie scattered like a torn rag. Cleanliness is greater than mere show; do not forget this first rule.

नम्र राहा आणि शांतपणे (सौम्य) बघ; कोणाबद्दल विनाकारण मनात आढी (राग) ठेवू नकोस. उगाच कोणाला चिडवायला किंवा त्याच्यावर कुरघोडी (कडी) करायला जाऊ नकोस.

Stay humble and look gently; do not keep needless ill-will toward anyone. Do not tease anyone for no reason or try to get one over them.

फुकटची 'हांजी हांजी' (खोटी खुशामत) करू नकोस; लाचार, बावळट होऊ नकोस. पण काही उदात्त, थोर दिसले की ताठ मान ठेवू नकोस, त्यापुढे नम्र हो.

Do not do empty flattery; do not be servile or dull. But when you see something noble, do not keep a stiff head; bow before it.

श्रीकृष्णाने गोवर्धन उचलला, तसा तुझ्या शक्तीने मोठे ओझे पेल; पण कंसासारखा होऊन कोणाचा छळ करू नकोस. विनाकारण भांडण करू नकोस, पण कोणी धमकावले तरी पळून जाऊ नकोस.

Lift the burden with your strength like Krishna lifting Govardhan, but do not oppress anyone like Kamsa. Do not pick needless quarrels, but do not run away when threatened.

स्वतःच्या दुःखासाठी डोळ्यांत अश्रू ठेवू नकोस (रडत बसू नकोस). पण दुसऱ्यासाठी करुणा वाहू दे; कोरडा, भावनाहीन राहू नकोस.

Do not keep tears in your eyes for your own sorrow; but let compassion flow for others, do not stay dry and unfeeling.

रानावनातून खुशाल चालत जा, नव्या वाटेला घाबरू नकोस. ज्यावर मनापासून श्रद्धा आहे, ते केल्याशिवाय राहू नकोस.

Walk freely even through the wilds, do not fear a new path. Do not rest until you have done what you truly believe in with all your heart.

जिथे वाट तिथे काटा असतोच; उगाच घाबरून अडून बसू नकोस. हिंमत केली की जगात किंमत मिळते; भित्रा, गुळमुळीत होऊन रडू नकोस.

Where there is a path there are thorns too; do not get stuck out of fear. Courage earns worth in the world; do not be a timid, half-hearted weeper.

वेरूळसारखे (अजोड) कर्तृत्व घडव; कर्तव्याला मुकू नकोस. आई आणि मातीने (मातृभूमीने) दिलेले देणे फेडायला विसरू नकोस.

Build great work like the Verul (Ellora) caves; do not fail your duty. Do not miss repaying the debt you owe to your mother and your motherland.
