आभाळाची अम्ही लेकरे Abhalachi Amhi Lekare (We Are Children of the Sky)

कवितेच्या पहिल्या कडव्यात कवी सांगतात की आपण सगळे आभाळाची लेकरे आहोत आणि काळी माती आपली आई आहे. निसर्गाच्या या नात्यात आपली जात वेगळी नाही आणि धर्मही वेगळा नाही, कारण निसर्गाने सगळ्यांना समान जन्म दिला आहे, असे कवी म्हणतात.

In the opening stanza, the poet declares that all people are children of the sky, with the dark earth as their mother. Before this bond of nature, he says, no one's caste is different and no one's religion is different - nature has given everyone the same origin, and the poet uses this to introduce the essential oneness of all humans.

दुसऱ्या कडव्यात कवी सांगतात की आपण सगळे श्रमरूपी नदीच्या (श्रमगंगेच्या) काठावर राहणारे कष्टकरी आहोत. आमचे नाव वेगळे नाही आणि गावही वेगळे नाही, कारण कष्ट व मेहनत हीच आमची खरी ओळख आहे, अशी भावना यातून व्यक्त होते.

In the second stanza, the poet says all speakers of the poem dwell on the banks of the river of labour (shramganga) and are toilers by nature. He states that they have no separate name and no separate village, because their shared toil itself becomes their common identity.

तिसऱ्या कडव्यात कवी सांगतात की कष्टकऱ्यांना एकच निष्ठा माहीत आहे - घाम गाळून प्रामाणिकपणे काम करणे. त्यामुळे त्यांचा मार्ग वेगळा नाही आणि त्यांचे स्वर्गही वेगळे नाही, म्हणजेच कष्टातूनच त्यांना समाधान व सुख मिळते, असा भाव यातून येतो.

In the third stanza, the poet explains that labourers know only one loyalty - to work hard and sweat honestly. Because of this shared devotion to toil, their path is not different and their notion of heaven is not different either; labour itself becomes both their creed and their idea of paradise.

चौथ्या कडव्यात कवी सांगतात की सर्व कष्टकऱ्यांमध्ये माणुसकीचे नाते कधीही न तुटणारे (अभंग) आहे. आपणच आपल्या नशिबाचे शिल्पकार (भाग्यविधाते) आहोत, असा आत्मविश्वास कवी व्यक्त करतात, आणि म्हणूनच पंथ किंवा संत यांतही भेद उरत नाही.

In the fourth stanza the poet says that the bond of humanity among labourers is unbreakable (abhang). They themselves are the shapers of their own destiny, an assertion of self-reliance and self-respect, and because of this there is no difference in the spiritual path they follow or the saints they revere - all share the same guiding ideal.

शेवटच्या कडव्यात कवी कोट्यवधी कष्टकऱ्यांच्या बळकट हातांची (बाहूंची) शक्ती वर्णन करतात. हे सगळे हात मिळून जगन्नाथाचा रथ ओढून नेतील, म्हणजे जगाची प्रगती घडवतील, असा आशावाद कवी व्यक्त करतात. त्यांची इच्छा (आस) आणि ध्यास एकच आहे, यातून कवितेचा एकजुटीचा संदेश पूर्ण होतो.

In the final stanza, the poet describes the strength of countless mighty arms belonging to the world's labourers. Together, he says, these arms will pull the great chariot of Jagannath forward, that is, they will drive the progress of the world - an optimistic vision. Their longing and their aspiration are one and the same, and with this the poem's message of unity reaches its culmination.
