सुगरणीचे घरटे Sugraniche Gharte (The Weaver Bird's Nest)

शाळेच्या मैदानातील निंबाच्या झाडावर सुगरण पक्षी घरटे बांधत असतो. अतुल, नयना, जॉन व सिमरन ही चार मुले रोज तिथे थांबून तो कसे घरटे बांधतो हे बघत राहतात. त्याच्या हालचाली त्यांना खूप आवडतात.

The first part tells us that a weaver bird is building its nest on a neem tree in the school grounds. Children named Atul, Nayana, John and Simran stop there for a while every day after school to closely observe exactly how the weaver bird weaves its nest. The bird's disciplined, skilful movements captivate the children. Nayana likes the planned, tidy way it works, John admires its perseverance, and Atul is struck by its hard-working nature. Simran feels that this bird puts in so much effort for its family. This part shows the children's curiosity and their habit of observing nature closely.

मुले घरटे बघत असताना गुरुजी तिथे येतात आणि विचारतात की काय पाहत आहात. मुले घरट्याकडे बोट दाखवतात. गुरुजी सांगतात की सुगरण पक्षी गवताच्या बारीक पण मजबूत काड्या गोळा करून चोचीने सुबक घरटे विणतो, म्हणूनच त्याला 'सुगरण' म्हणतात.

In the second part, the teacher arrives and asks the children what they are looking at. The children point to the nest and say how beautifully the weaver bird has built it. The teacher examines the nest and explains that the weaver bird always builds a neat and sturdy nest. It gathers thin but tough blades of grass and weaves them together using only its beak to create a neat, strong nest. He also tells them that it is because of this intricate weaving that the bird is called 'sugaran' (the skilled weaver). This part explains the reason behind the bird's name and what makes its weaving so distinctive.

गुरुजी सांगतात की सुगरणमादी मजबूत घरटे बघूनच त्यात राहायला येते. निंब किंवा बाभळीच्या झाडाच्या फांदीला हे घरटे झोक्यासारखे लटकलेले असते आणि वादळातही ते तुटत नाही, तसेच शाबूत राहते.

In the third part, the teacher gives more information about how the nest is built. He tells the children that the female weaver bird closely examines the nest built by the male and chooses one that is sturdy and fit to live in. This nest is usually hung, swing-like, from a branch of a neem or babul tree. Most importantly, even in a strong storm the nest does not break - it remains intact - and no other bird can build a nest as sturdy as this. Saying this, the teacher praises the weaver bird. This part helps us understand what makes the weaver bird's building skill so special.

काही दिवसांनी मुले पुन्हा त्या झाडाजवळ येतात, तेव्हा त्यांना दिसते की घरटे बांधून पूर्ण झाले आहे आणि सुगरण त्यात राहायला आलेली आहे. नयना म्हणते की चोचीने इतके सुबक घरटे बांधणारा हा पक्षी खूपच कसबी विणकर आहे.

In the final part, after a few days the children return to the neem tree. There, they find that the weaver bird's nest is fully built, and the female weaver, who had earlier been observing from the branch, has now moved in to live there. Seeing this, Nayana says admiringly that it is truly remarkable how the weaver bird builds such a well-shaped, neat nest using only its beak, and she wonders to herself whether they too could ever make such a nest. She admiringly calls it 'what a skilled weaver this bird is'. This part shows the respect and admiration the children have come to feel for the weaver bird.
