उपयोजित लेखन Applied Writing

वाचलेल्या माहितीचा वापर करून एखाद्या उद्देशासाठी लिहिणे म्हणजे उपयोजित लेखन. उदा. पत्र, बातमी, निबंध.

Applied writing is the practical use of language skills - writing in the right form, tone and length for a given context.

पत्रे दोन प्रकारची: औपचारिक (कार्यालय, शाळा, अर्ज) आणि अनौपचारिक (कुटुंब, मित्र).

Formal letters include address, date, subject, salutation, body, closing and signature; informal letters use a free, personal style.

बातमी म्हणजे घटनेची ताजी माहिती. शीर्षक, स्थळ, दिनांक, स्रोत आणि घटनाक्रम (भूतकाळ) स्पष्ट असावा.

News reports state the main fact first, then details, using factual neutral language and short sentences.

सारांश = मूळ मजकुराचा संक्षिप्त अर्थ. जाहिरात = वस्तू/सेवेची आकर्षक ओळख. कथा = सुरुवात, मध्य, शेवट.

Summaries capture main points without the writer's opinion; ads use few words and a call to action; stories need character, conflict and resolution.

निबंध: वैचारिक (विषयावर विचार), आत्मकथन (अनुभव) आणि प्रसंगलेखन (घटना). प्रस्तावना, मुख्य भाग, निष्कर्ष.

Essays have introduction, body and conclusion; ideas must be clear with suitable examples.
