डॉ. होमी भाभा यांनी भारतात अणुसंशोधनाचा पाया घातला. त्यांच्या नावावर 'भाभा अणुसंशोधन केंद्र' (बार्क) आहे. त्यांचे व्यक्तिमत्त्व तरुण शास्त्रज्ञांना स्फूर्ती देणारे होते.

Dr. Homi Bhabha was a great nuclear scientist who laid the foundation of atomic research in India. The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is named after him. His personality inspired young scientists.

बार्कच्या प्रशिक्षण शाळेत मुलांनी विचारले - आम्हाला पुरेल इतके काम आहे का? भाभा म्हणाले, चिंता करू नका; तुम्ही संशोधन करा, स्वतःच काम निर्माण करा. बॉसने सांगितले तेवढेच काम करणे चुकीचे आहे.

At BARC's training school about a hundred students asked if there was enough work for all. Dr. Bhabha said: don't worry, do research, create your own work and decide what to do. Working only as much as the boss says is wrong.

सुरुवातीला कोणीतरी मार्ग दाखवेल, ते ठीक. पण शेवटी स्वतःचा मार्ग शोधावा. कामात गुंग झाल्यास 'स्काय इज द लिमिट' - म्हणजे आकाशही मर्यादा नाही.

At first someone may guide you, which is fine. But the goal should be to find your own path, gain inspiration and master your work. Absorbed in work without worry, the sky is the limit.

लेखकाला मेटलायझिंग प्रक्रियेवर काम सांगितले, पण मदत मिळाली नाही. त्यांना स्वतः सर्व कामे करावी लागली. समर्थ रामदासांचे 'आधी केले मग सांगितले' हे तत्त्व इथे लागू पडते.

When the writer joined BARC as an engineer, he was told to work on metallizing but got no help. He had to do all jobs himself. Samarth Ramdas's 'first do, then tell' applies: you cannot instruct others until you are skilled yourself.

प्रत्यक्ष अनुभवातून शिकणे अधिक परिणामकारक असते. स्वतः कंदील बनवण्याच्या अनुभवातून हे खरे वाटते - मेहनत केल्याशिवाय काही जमत नाही.

The writer says learning from direct experience is more effective. Making a paper lantern for Diwali himself proved this - work succeeds only through repeated effort and hard labour.
