तू झालास मूक समाजाचा नायक Tu Zalas Muk Samajacha Nayak

तू बाहेर पडलास तेव्हा सगळीकडे अंधाराचे राज्य होते. सूर्यफुलांनीसुद्धा तुझ्याकडे पाठ फिरवली होती. नेहमीच्या वाटेने जायला तू नकार दिलास, तेव्हा खाचखळगे म्हणजे अडचणींनीच तुझे स्वागत केले.

When you set out, darkness ruled everywhere and even the sunflowers had turned their backs on you. When you refused the well-trodden path, it was the pits and potholes (hardships) that welcomed you.

तू परिस्थितीवर मात केलीस आणि नवा इतिहास घडवलास. जो समाज अन्यायाविरुद्ध बोलू शकत नव्हता, त्याचा तू नायक झालास आणि बहिष्कृत भारताला जागे केलेस, उभे केलेस.

You rose above circumstance and shaped a new history. You became the leader of the people who could not speak against injustice, and you awakened and raised up the excluded, oppressed India.

अफाट ज्ञानाच्या बळावर तू लढाईचे रणशिंग फुंकलेस. गुलामांच्या पायांतल्या बेड्या तोडल्यास आणि युद्धात सैनिकांना उभे करावे तसे लोकांना चवदार तळ्याच्या काठावर उभे केलेस.

On the strength of boundless knowledge you sounded the war-trumpet, broke the chains on the feet of slaves, and lined the people up at the bank of Chavdar Tale just as soldiers are marshalled in battle.

तुझे शब्द इतके मोठे होते की मोठमोठी महाकाव्येसुद्धा तुझ्या पायाशी गळून पडावीत. तुझा संघर्ष असा होता की लाठ्यासुद्धा बंदुकीच्या संगिनींसारख्या प्रभावी ठराव्यात.

Your words were such that even great epics would fall away at your feet, and your struggle was such that mere sticks would turn into bayonets.

तुझ्या सिंहासारख्या गर्जनेने आकाश हादरले, पृथ्वी डचमळली आणि बघता बघता चवदार तळ्याला जणू आग लागली, म्हणजे क्रांती पेटली.

Your lion-like roar shook the sky and made the earth tremble, and before one's eyes the Chavdar Tale caught fire, a symbol of the blazing revolution.

आज पन्नास वर्षांनी मला जाणवते की सूर्यफुले तुझाच ध्यास घेत आहेत. बिगूल तुझी वाट पाहत आहे आणि चवदार तळ्याचे पाणीसुद्धा आता थंड झाले आहे.

Now, fifty years on, the poet senses that the sunflowers yearn for you, the bugle waits, and even the water of Chavdar Tale has now grown cold (calm).
