About the author

Nissim Ezekiel (1924–2004) was a foundational figure of modern Indian English poetry. Born in Mumbai to a Jewish family, he satirised Indian English speech with affection, not cruelty. "Goodbye Party for Miss Pushpa T.S." mimics a farewell speech at an office or club - warm, rambling, and comic.
