शनि : सबसे सुंदर ग्रह Shani : Sabse Sundar Grah

शनि सौर-मंडल का दूसरा बड़ा ग्रह है। यह पृथ्वी से 750 गुना बड़ा है। इसका व्यास 116 हज़ार किलोमीटर है।

Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system after Jupiter. It is about 750 times larger than Earth, with a diameter of 116,000 km (about 9 times Earth's). It is ten times farther from the Sun than Earth and can be seen with the naked eye.

पौराणिक कथाओं में शनि महाराज सूर्य के पुत्र हैं। शनि को 'शनैश्चर' कहते हैं जिसका अर्थ है धीमी गति से चलनेवाला।

In Hindu mythology Saturn is the son of the Sun god. It is called 'Shanai:char' meaning 'one who moves slowly'. Over time 'shanaichar' became 'sanichar' and superstitions grew around it - people believe it brings misfortune for 7.5 years when it enters a zodiac sign.

शनि को दूरबीन से देखने पर चारों ओर वलय (गोल) दिखाई देते हैं। इन वलयों ने शनि को सौर-मंडल का सबसे सुंदर ग्रह बनाया है।

Seen through a telescope, Saturn has rings all around it. These rings are like a beautiful garland around its neck. They make Saturn the most beautiful planet in the solar system. Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune also have rings, but Saturn's are far wider and clearer.

शनि करीब तीस वर्षों में सूर्य का एक चक्कर लगाता है। यह एक राशि में करीब ढाई साल रहता है।

Saturn takes about thirty years to orbit the Sun, so little change is visible in its sky position year to year. It stays in one zodiac sign for about two and a half years.

शनि ग्रह बहुत ठंडा है। इसका तापमान शून्य के नीचे 150 डिग्री सेंटीग्रेड है। वायुमंडल हाइड्रोजन, हीलियम, मीथेन और एमोनिया से बना है।

Saturn receives only one-hundredth of the sunlight Earth gets, so its atmospheric temperature is around -150°C. Its atmosphere consists of hydrogen, helium, methane and ammonia gases. Saturn's surface cannot be observed - we only see its bright outer atmosphere.

शनि के 17 उपग्रह हैं। सबसे बड़ा चंद्र टाइटन है जिसका व्यास 5150 किलोमीटर है। शनि सौर-मंडल का सबसे खूबसूरत ग्रह है।

Saturn now has 17 known moons discovered partly through the Pioneer and Voyager spacecraft. Its largest moon Titan (diameter 5150 km) is the most important moon in the solar system. Ganymede of Jupiter is the largest moon overall. Saturn is the most beautiful planet in the solar system - there is no scientific basis for treating any planet as auspicious or inauspicious.
