ತತ್ತ್ವಪದಗಳು Tattvapadagalu

ಗುರುವಿನ ಕರುಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲದವನ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಸಾಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ. ಆದರೆ ಸಾಧು-ಸತ್ಪುರುಷರ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು ತುಂಬಾ ಕಷ್ಟದ, ಆದರೆ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಕೆಲಸ.

Do not, until death, keep the friendship of one who lacks the grace of a guru. To serve saints and noble souls is very hard, yet it is the highest work.

ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ಯವಾದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಮಾತಿಲ್ಲದವನ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಜಾತಿ-ಜನ್ಮದ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ. ಕೆಟ್ಟ, ಹೀನ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಮಾಡಿ ನೀನು ಕೆಟ್ಟುಹೋಗಬೇಡ.

Do not, for reasons of caste or birth, befriend one whose words hold no real worth. Do not ruin yourself by keeping the company of a base man.

ಬಾಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ 'ಅಕ್ಕ-ತಂಗಿ' ಎಂದು ಕರೆದು ಸಲುಗೆಯಿಂದ ಒಳಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿ ಬೆರೆಯಬೇಡ. ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಹೊತ್ತು ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಸಮಯ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.

Do not call women 'sister' only with the lips and then mix with them in undue familiarity. Do not merely eat your daily food and waste away the hours in idleness.

ದೊಡ್ಡದನ್ನು ಚಿಕ್ಕದು, ಚಿಕ್ಕದನ್ನು ದೊಡ್ಡದು ಎಂದು ತಿರುಚಿ ಸಮ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ (ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುಚಬೇಡ). ಗುರು ಮಹಾಂತೇಶನ ಪಾದವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಇರುವುದು ತುಂಬಾ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಕೆಲಸ.

Do not wrongly equate the great with the small or the small with the great. To hold fast to the feet of the guru Mahantesha is the highest of works (the closing ankita).

ಬಿದಿರು ತಾನೇ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ: 'ನಾನು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲದವಳಲ್ಲ, ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒದಗಿಬರುತ್ತೇನೆ' ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಹಾಡು ಆರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

In the refrain the bamboo speaks of itself, saying it belongs to everyone and is of use to all.

ಹುಟ್ಟುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಹುಲ್ಲಾಗಿದ್ದೆ. ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಮೈತುಂಬಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ತೂಗುವ ತೊಟ್ಟಿಲಾದೆ.

At birth I was a blade of grass; growing on, I filled out into a full plant; I became the cradle that rocks little children.

ನಾನು ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿ ಹೊರುವ ದಂಡಿಗೆಯಾದೆ. ಪೂಜೆಯ ಪತ್ರೆ ಹಾಕುವ ಬುಟ್ಟಿಯಾದೆ. ಮಹಾತ್ಮರ ಕೈಯ ಬೆತ್ತ (ಊರುಗೋಲು) ಆದೆ.

I became the pole that carries the palanquin; the basket for sacred leaves of worship; the staff in the hand of great souls.

ಧಾನ್ಯ ಕುಟ್ಟುವ ಒನಕೆಯಾದೆ. ಅಂಬಿಗನಿಗೆ (ದೋಣಿ ನಡೆಸುವವನಿಗೆ) ಹುಟ್ಟು ಹಾಕುವ ಕೋಲಾದೆ. ರೈತನಿಗೆ ಬೀಜ ಬಿತ್ತುವ ಕೂರಿಗೆಯಾದೆ.

I became the pestle for husking grain, the pole of the boatman, the seed-drill with which the farmer sows.

ಧಾನ್ಯ ಬೀಸುವ ಗೂಟವಾದೆ. ಧಾನ್ಯ ಕೇರುವ ಮೊರವಾದೆ. ಮುದುಕರಿಗೆ ಊರುವ (ಆಧಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಊರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ) ಬೆತ್ತವಾದೆ.

I became the peg of the grinding-mill, the winnowing fan that cleans grain, the support-staff for the old to lean on.

ಆಡುವ ಆಟದ ಕೋಲಾದೆ. ಎತ್ತಿನ ಗಾಡಿ ಹೂಡಲು ಚಕ್ಕಡಿಯಾದೆ. ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಮೇಶ್ವರನಿಗೆ ನಂದಿಕೋಲಾದೆ.

I became the stick for play, the bullock-cart to be yoked, and the Nandi-staff for Siddharameshwara.

ನೆರಳು ಕೊಡುವ ಚಪ್ಪರವಾದೆ. ಏಕದಂಡಿ (ತಂತಿವಾದ್ಯ)ಗೆ ಕೊಳವೆಯಾದೆ. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಶಿಶುನಾಳಾಧೀಶನಿಗೆ ಓಲಗ (ವಾದ್ಯ)ವಾದೆ.

I became the leafy bower that gives shade, the tube for the ektari (string-instrument), and at the last the wind-pipe-music for Shishunaladhisha (the closing ankita).
