ಪಾರಿವಾಳ Parivala

ದಟ್ಟವಾದ ಕಾಡಿನ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮರದ ಪೊದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುದ್ದಾದ ಬಿಳಿ ಪಾರಿವಾಳಗಳ ಜೋಡಿ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಸಂಸಾರ ಹೂಡಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

In the bushy hollow of a great tree in a dense forest, a pair of pretty white pigeons had set up a little home and lived together.

ಆ ಜೋಡಿ ಹಗಲೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದು ಬಾಳಿದವು; ಒಂದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಅಗಲುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಆ ಪೊದೆಯ ತುಂಬ ಸಂತೋಷ ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು.

Day and night this pair lived together and never parted from each other; their presence filled the hollow with joy.

ಇಟ್ಟ ಮೊಟ್ಟೆಗಳು ಒಡೆದು ಮರಿಗಳು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಾಗ ಅವುಗಳ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಯಿತು; ಮುದ್ದಾದ ಮರಿಗಳ ಮಧುರ ಸದ್ದು ಕೇಳಿ ಆನಂದದಿಂದ ದಿನ ಕಳೆದವು.

When the eggs they had laid broke open, the love of the pigeons grew greater; listening to the sweet sounds of their dear chicks, they passed their days in happiness.

ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಬೇಡ (ಬೇಟೆಗಾರ) ಬಂದು ಬಲೆ ಹರಡಿದನು; ಪುಟ್ಟ ಮರಿಗಳು ಹಾರಿ ಆ ಬಲೆಯ ಸೆರೆಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಬಿದ್ದವು; ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರಲು ಚೀತ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡತೊಡಗಿದವು.

Once a fowler came and spread a net; the little chicks flew and got caught in the snare, and began to cry out shrilly to get free.

ಮರಿಗಳ ಸಂಕಟವನ್ನು ಕಂಡ ತಾಯಿ ಪಾರಿವಾಳ ಬಲೆಗೆ ಹಾರಿ ಧುಮುಕಿತು; ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನು ಅಗಲಲಾರದ ಗಂಡು ಹಕ್ಕಿಯೂ ಬಿಕ್ಕಿಬಿಕ್ಕಿ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದಿತು.

Seeing the plight of the chicks, the mother pigeon plunged into the net; and the male bird, unable to be parted from his mate, sobbing and sobbing, also came close inside.

ಕುರುಡು ವಾತ್ಸಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಪಾರಿವಾಳಗಳ ಗುಂಪು ತಾವಾಗಿಯೇ ಬಲೆಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿತು; ಹಸಿದ ಬೇಡನು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಹೊತ್ತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದನು.

Losing their discernment in blind affection, the flock of pigeons themselves rushed into the net; and the hungry fowler carried them all away.

ಮೋಹವು ಮುಚ್ಚಿದ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯು ಸರ್ವನಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ; ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ವ್ಯಾಮೋಹವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು, ಏನೇ ಬಂದರೂ ತಾಳ್ಮೆಯಿಂದ ಸಹಿಸಿ ಬಾಳಬೇಕು.

An intellect veiled by infatuation is the very accomplishment of total ruin; therefore one must give up obsession and, whatever may come, live with patience. This is the poet's message.
