Summary
In this short poem, written as a blessing, the poet says may dreams grow big. He wants dreams not to remain mere feeling and imagination, but to quickly learn to descend to earth and become real. The poet says dreams should insist and yearn for distant, hard-to-reach truths like the moon and stars. He adds that dreams should also know how to laugh, smile and sing - meaning one should hold on to joy even amid hardship. The poet further says one should be tempted by the light of every lamp, meaning one should long to learn new things, and be willing to burn a finger for it if needed - meaning embracing risk and challenge. Finally, the poet blesses the dreams to stand on their own feet - to ultimately become self-reliant.
