आदमी का अनुपात Aadmi ka Anupat (Man's Proportion)

कविता शुरू होती है दो लोगों से जो एक कमरे में हैं, और वे कमरे से भी छोटे हैं। फिर कवि दिखाते हैं कि कमरा घर के अंदर है, घर मोहल्ले में है, मोहल्ला नगर में है, नगर प्रदेश में है, प्रदेश कई देशों में है, और देश पृथ्वी पर हैं। इस तरह कवि छोटी चीज़ से बड़ी चीज़ की तरफ कदम-दर-कदम बढ़ते हैं ताकि दिखा सकें कि आदमी कितनी छोटी जगह में समाया हुआ है।

The poem opens by describing two people inside a room, smaller even than the room itself. The poet then traces an expanding sequence - the room lies within a house, the house within a neighbourhood, the neighbourhood within a city, the city within a state, the state spans several countries, and countries lie upon the Earth. Step by step, the poet moves from the smallest unit to the largest, showing just how tiny a space a human being is actually confined to.

कवि आगे कहते हैं कि अनगिनत तारों के बीच पृथ्वी एक बहुत ही छोटी चीज़ है - करोड़ों में से बस एक। पृथ्वी को अपने अंदर समेटने वाली आकाशगंगा इतनी बड़ी है कि उसमें लाखों ब्रह्मांड हैं, और हमारी पृथ्वी वाला ब्रह्मांड उनमें से सिर्फ एक है। हर ब्रह्मांड में ऐसी कितनी ही पृथ्वियाँ, भूमियाँ और दुनियाएँ हो सकती हैं। इस तरह कवि बताते हैं कि इतनी बड़ी सृष्टि के सामने आदमी का आकार क्या है - यही है आदमी का सृष्टि से अनुपात।

The poet continues, explaining that among countless stars, Earth is an extremely small object - just one among crores. The circumference of the galaxy (nabh ganga) that holds Earth is so vast that it contains lakhs of universes, and our own Earth's universe is merely one among them. The poet adds that every single universe may contain countless earths, countless lands, and countless creations. In this way the poet measures the size of humankind against this vast creation, arriving at what he calls man's proportion to the immense cosmos.

इतना कुछ जानने के बाद भी कवि दिखाते हैं कि आदमी ईर्ष्या, घमंड, स्वार्थ, नफरत और अविश्वास में डूबा रहता है। वह अपने चारों ओर बेशुमार दीवारें खड़ी कर लेता है और खुद को दूसरों का मालिक समझने लगता है। कवि व्यंग्य से कहते हैं कि देशों के बँटवारे की तो बात ही क्या, आदमी एक छोटे-से कमरे में भी दो अलग-अलग दुनिया बना लेता है - यानी थोड़ी-सी जगह में भी वह फूट और बँटवारा पैदा कर देता है।

Despite knowing this immense proportion, the poet shows that man remains sunk in jealousy, ego, selfishness, hatred and distrust. He erects countless (as numerous as a 'shankh', a vast Indian numeral) walls and begins declaring himself master over others. The poet remarks with irony that division isn't limited to countries - man manages to create two separate worlds even within a single small room, generating division and enmity within himself regardless of how small the space actually is.
