નાનજીભાઈ ૧૮૮૭માં જન્મ્યા; કિશોર વયે જ આફ્રિકા ગયા.

Nanjibhai was born in 1887 in a small Saurashtra village. His family's means were ordinary. While still a boy, to give his life a new turn, he set off across the sea for Africa - courage in his heart and big dreams in his eyes.

કઠોર પરિશ્રમથી નાનજીભાઈએ આફ્રિકામાં ખાંડનો ઉદ્યોગ ઊભો કર્યો.

In Africa he began with a small trade. Through hard work, honesty and business skill, Nanjibhai steadily expanded his trade. In time he built a large sugar industry there and became a successful, renowned industrialist.

નાનજીભાઈ માટે ધન સાધ્ય નહીં, સમાજસેવાનું સાધન હતું.

Despite vast wealth, Nanjibhai was not dazzled by it. For him money was not an end but a means. He firmly believed that what comes from society must be returned to society. So he turned his earnings towards public welfare.

એમણે શાળા, દવાખાનાં ને મંદિરો બંધાવ્યાં, ઉદાર દાન કર્યું.

Nanjibhai built schools, colleges, hospitals and temples; he gave generously to many works of education and health. In hard times such as famine he helped people. His bond with both India and Africa shone through in his service.

સાચો શ્રેષ્ઠી એ જે ધનનો સદુપયોગ સમાજ માટે કરે.

Nanjibhai's life teaches that a true merchant is not merely a rich man but one who uses his wealth for society. To earn is success, but to share is meaning. A society-devoted merchant like him leaves behind a shining ideal of charity and service.
