રસ્તો કરી જવાના Rasto Kari Javana (We Shall Carve Our Own Path)

રસ્તો ન મળે તો જાતે રસ્તો બનાવી લેવાનો - થોડામાં હારવાનું નહીં.

At the very start the poet declares with pride - if no road is found to walk on, we shall carve one out ourselves. To shrink and die within over a small difficulty is not in our nature.

નિજ મસ્તીમાં જીવવાનું; બિંદુ સિંધુમાં ભળી તરી જાય તેમ માણસ મહાન બને.

The poet says we shall live our whole life in our own joy, with self-respect. As a tiny drop, losing itself in the ocean, becomes vast and survives, so a person too, by merging into a great purpose, can rise to greatness.

ખાલી હાથે નહીં, કંઈક આપીને જવાનું; અમે પોતે જ પ્રકાશ-દીપક છીએ.

The poet sounds a bold note of self-reliance - we shall not die empty-handed; before leaving the world we shall fill its lap. We are our own light; we need no one else's lamp - we ourselves will spread light in the dark.

'હે કાળ, ભય નથી, તું કરી લે' - ઈશ્વર સાથે છે એ શ્રદ્ધાથી અડગ ખુમારી.

In the closing couplet the poet fearlessly challenges death (kaal) itself - 'O Death, there is no fear, do your worst!' Strengthened by faith that God is with him, he refuses to give in over small troubles and proclaims his unbroken pride.
