અરુણિમા હોનહાર વૉલીબૉલ ખેલાડી હતી, જેનું ભવિષ્ય ઊજળું હતું.

Arunima Sinha was a national-level volleyball player. She had a bright future in sport and dreamed high. Through fitness, discipline and effort she had made a name for herself.

લૂંટારુઓએ એને ટ્રેનમાંથી ધકેલી દીધી અને એને એક પગ ગુમાવવો પડ્યો.

During a train journey robbers pushed her from the moving train. In this dreadful accident she lost a leg. The body she had been proud of was shattered in a moment.

કૃત્રિમ પગ સાથે અરુણિમાએ સંકલ્પ કર્યો કે એ લાચાર નથી.

Months passed in hospital and an artificial leg was fitted. But instead of becoming an object of pity, Arunima made a resolve - I will show the world that I am not helpless. She turned her hardship itself into strength.

તાલીમ લઈ, ૨૦૧૩માં અરુણિમાએ કૃત્રિમ પગે એવરેસ્ટ સર કર્યું.

She trained under Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to summit Everest. Defeating the artificial leg, the killing cold and exhaustion, on 21 May 2013 she set foot on the world's highest peak, Mount Everest.

સાચી અપંગતા શરીરમાં નહીં, હારેલા મનમાં છે - દૃઢ સંકલ્પ બધું શક્ય બનાવે.

Arunima's feat is not just a conquest of a mountain but a conquest of the mind. It shows that real disability lies not in the body but in a defeated mind. With firm resolve a person can cross any height - 'even the lame can cross a mountain'.
