એકલો જાને રે Eklo Jaane Re (Walk Alone)

કોઈ સાથ ન આપે તોપણ ગભરાયા વિના એકલો જ ચાલ્યે જા.

At the very start the poet calls out - if none comes when they hear your call, if none keeps you company, even then walk on alone without fear. To tread the right path one need not wait for company.

બધાં મોં ફેરવી લે, કોઈ ન બોલે - તોપણ હૈયું ખોલીને ચાલ્યે જા.

The poet goes on - if in hard times all turn their faces away, if none speaks, if all look aside - even then, holding your thoughts within and opening your heart, walk on without fear. One must not falter at others' neglect.

કોઈ દીવો ન ધરે તો પોતાનું હૈયું સળગાવી, એ પ્રકાશે ચાલ્યે જા.

The poet gives a beautiful symbol - if on a pitch-dark night none holds up a lamp for you, then set your own breast (heart) aflame and, by that very light, light up your path. That is, when no support comes, let your own will be the lamp.

સત્યના માર્ગે આત્મવિશ્વાસથી, એકલા હો તોપણ અડગ ચાલ્યે જવું.

The whole song strikes one note - one who walks the path of truth and purpose must not wait for others' company, consent or praise. To go on firmly, with self-belief and courage, even when alone, is true fearlessness.
