Examen de escritura Higher: 1 hora 15 minutos, 50 puntos, tres preguntas.

Original mock in AQA GCSE Spanish (8692) format, Higher tier. Time: 1 hour 15 minutes. Total: 50 marks. Three questions: translation into Spanish (10), the 90-word essay (15) and the 150-word essay (25). In the essays choose ONE of the two options and cover every bullet point.

El ano pasado visite a mis primos en Sevilla. Cenamos en restaurantes diferentes. Ahora estudio espanol porque quiero trabajar en Espana. El mes que viene mis primos vienen a Inglaterra.

Last year I visited my cousins in Seville with my parents. The weather was fantastic and we had dinner in a different restaurant every evening. Now I study Spanish at school because I would like to work in Spain in the future. Next month my cousins are going to spend a week at our house in England.

Mi instituto esta en Leeds y tiene laboratorios modernos. Los profesores ayudan mucho. El mes pasado celebramos una semana cultural con una exposicion y comida mexicana. Si pudiera, construiria una piscina y ofreceria mas idiomas.

My school is on the outskirts of Leeds and has modern laboratories that I love. What I like most is the atmosphere, because the teachers are always willing to help. Last month we held a cultural week: my class prepared an exhibition on Latin America and we sold Mexican food to raise money. It was a great success. However, if I could change something, I would build an indoor swimming pool and offer more language classes, because in my opinion speaking other languages opens many doors.

La tecnologia ha mejorado nuestra vida: hablo con mi abuela por videollamada y mi madre recibio sus medicinas por internet. Pero dependemos demasiado de las pantallas. La inteligencia artificial cambiara las profesiones, asi que seguire aprendiendo toda mi vida.

In my opinion, technology has improved our daily life incredibly, although it has also created new problems. On the one hand, thanks to my phone I can talk to my grandmother, who lives in Scotland, and see her every Sunday by video call. When my mother was ill last winter, she ordered her medicines online and received them at home the same day. On the other hand, I think we depend too much on screens; many of my classmates cannot go even an hour without looking at their phone, which I find worrying. As for the future of work, I am convinced that artificial intelligence will change almost every profession. Some jobs will disappear, but others will be created that we cannot imagine today. That is why, when I finish my studies, I will keep learning new skills throughout my working life. The key will be to adapt without losing what makes us human.
