Ines quiere viajar un ano. Pablo quiere disenar videojuegos.

Ines: After my exams I want to spend a whole year travelling before starting university. Pablo: I would like to design video games because programming fascinates me. Rocio: I dream of being a gardener; I cannot stand the idea of spending the day in an office. Alvaro: I am going to help at a soup kitchen at weekends; I do not mind not getting paid.

1. Thanks to this social network I have got back in touch with friends who live abroad. 2. I lose hours watching pointless videos; I should uninstall it. 3. The photo-sharing tools are excellent, although the advertising gets tiresome. 4. Since I started using it I sleep worse, because I cannot put the phone down at night. 5. The study groups helped me pass maths; I found very clear explanations there. 6. It is useful for keeping up with the news, but too many false rumours circulate.

According to a recent study, Spaniards recycle more than ten years ago, but we still produce too much rubbish. In the city of Logrono, the council has launched an original scheme: residents who take their organic waste to the composting point receive discounts in neighbourhood shops. More than two thousand families already take part in the initiative. Elena Vidal, who runs the project, explains that the main aim is not to save money but to change people's habits. The hardest part, she says, was convincing the over-sixties, because many thought that separating rubbish was a waste of time. Now they are precisely the scheme's most loyal participants.

Valentina Suarez, nineteen, created her first app while she was still at school. The idea was born from an everyday problem: her grandmother kept forgetting to take her medicines. Today her app has half a million users across Latin America. Valentina admits that success comes at a price. She works more than ten hours a day and hardly sees her friends. However, she has no regrets: she has just signed a contract with a Buenos Aires hospital and dreams of opening an office in Madrid next year.

Antes Sergio comia comida rapida. Su medico le aviso del riesgo. Ahora cocina y va al gimnasio. Pronto correra diez kilometros y se apuntara a yoga.

Sergio writes: I used to eat fast food almost every day and I never exercised. Everything changed when my doctor warned me about the risk to my health. Now I prepare my own meals and go to the gym three times a week. In two months I will take part in my first ten-kilometre race, and after that I will sign up for yoga classes to manage stress.

Every summer, the small island of Santa Clara receives twenty times more visitors than it has inhabitants. Tourists bring money, of course: half the islanders work in hotels or restaurants, and without them many young people would have to move to the mainland to look for work. But the price is high. Rents have risen so much that teachers and nurses can no longer afford to live there. In addition, night-time noise stops residents near the port from sleeping. The council has just announced two measures: it will limit the number of tourist boats arriving each day and it will ban tourist flats in the old town from January.

The San Marcos school in Montevideo decided to ban mobile phones a year ago, and the results surprise even the most sceptical. According to the head teacher, Year 3 students' marks have improved by fifteen per cent and playground fights have almost disappeared. At first the students protested; some parents also complained because they could not contact their children during the day. Twelve months on, three out of four pupils admit that they now talk more with their classmates. The management is considering extending the rule to school trips next year.

When I was a child, my family and I used to spend the summers in my grandparents' village. Now I live in London and work for a technology company. Although I love my job, I miss the peace and quiet of the countryside. That is why next year I will buy a small house near the coast, where I hope to spend more time with my parents.
