Dear Carlos, how are you? I hope your ankle is getting better. I arrived home three days ago and I still miss Madrid. The churros at the San Miguel market were incredible! And the noise of the Gran Vía at night, with the buses and the people... everything here seems too quiet. I am watching a Spanish series on Netflix called La Casa de Papel -- do you know it? La profesora enseña los formatos de cartas formales e informales. Formal: usted, Estimado/a, Atentamente. Informal: tú, Querido/a, Un abrazo.

The teacher explained the two formats. For formal letters: use usted, begin with Estimado/a or A quien corresponda, end with Atentamente or En espera de su respuesta. For emails or informal letters: use tú, begin with Hola or Querido/a, end with Un abrazo, Hasta pronto or Con cariño. Always remember to include the date, the subject and well-organised paragraphs. The class practised both formats.
