Reisen und Urlaub Travel and Holidays

Lukas sagt: Wir fahren nach Italien. Wir reisen mit dem Auto. Die Fahrt dauert acht Stunden. Ich freue mich auf das Eis!

Lukas tells Arjun excitedly that his family is going to Italy in the summer holidays. They travel by car through Austria to Lake Garda. The journey takes about eight hours. His father always plays music in the car and his mother reads. Lukas is most excited about the lake and the ice cream. In Italy the best ice cream in the world is available. His sister Lisa wants to visit the art museums in Verona.

Arjun sagt: Wir fliegen nach Goa. Der Flug ist kurz. Wir wohnen am Strand. Meine Oma kommt auch.

Arjun says his family is going to Goa. They are flying from Delhi - the flight takes about two and a half hours. In Goa they stay in a small hotel near the beach. Every day they go swimming in the sea. His grandmother is also coming - she has never seen the sea before and is very excited. His mother wants to visit the old Portuguese churches. Arjun loves the fish and rice there.

Lukas' Familie packt Koffer. Mutter macht eine Liste. Vater nimmt Bücher. Lukas nimmt seinen Fußball.

Two days before the trip Lukas's family starts packing. His mother makes a list: sunscreen, swimming things, summer clothes, his passport, the camera. His father always packs too many books. Lukas packs his football because maybe there is a space to play at the lake. His brother Max packs his toy car and his sister packs her violin - she always wants to practise. Lukas finds it sometimes funny what everyone considers essential.

Der Reisetag beginnt früh. Der Wecker klingelt um fünf Uhr. Es gibt einen Stau. Dann fahren sie durch die Berge.

On the travel day the alarm clock rings at five in the morning. Everyone is tired but excited. The car is already packed. Lukas's father checks everything three times. On the motorway there is a traffic jam and they have to wait for forty minutes. But then the traffic clears and they drive through the beautiful Austrian mountains. Lukas looks out of the window and sees green valleys and white peaks. It is so different from Berlin. He feels great.

Lukas und Arjun sprechen über ihre Ferien. Lukas: Der Gardasee war toll! Arjun: Goa war wunderschön! Beide liebten ihre Urlaube.

Two weeks later Lukas and Arjun speak again on the phone. Both tell stories from their holidays. Lukas says: Lake Garda was fantastic! The water was so clear and warm. Arjun says: Goa was wonderful! My grandmother saw the sea for the first time and cried with joy - it was a beautiful moment. Both agree: holidays with the family are something very special. Lukas asks: Where shall we go together one day? Arjun laughs: First you come to Goa!
