This lesson covers the topic of clothing and fashion. We learn important clothing items like trousers, shirt, dress, skirt and coat. We also learn colours and adjectives to describe clothing and express fashion preferences.

Kleidung: Hose, Hemd, Kleid, Rock, Mantel, Schuhe. Farben: rot, blau, grün usw.

Clothing: die Hose (trousers), das Hemd (shirt), das Kleid (dress), der Rock (skirt), der Mantel (coat), die Schuhe (shoes). Verbs: tragen (to wear), anziehen (to put on). Colours: rot (red), blau (blue), grün (green), gelb (yellow), schwarz (black), weiß (white). Adjectives: groß (big), klein (small), eng (tight), weit (wide/loose).

Adjektivendungen: ein roter Mantel (m), eine blaue Hose (f), ein gelbes Hemd (n).

Adjectives before nouns have endings that depend on gender. In Nominative with indefinite article: masculine -er (ein roter Mantel), feminine -e (eine blaue Hose), neuter -es (ein gelbes Hemd). In Accusative: masculine becomes -en (einen roten Mantel). Comparative: schöner als (more beautiful than), moderner als (more modern than), größer als (bigger than).

Deutschland hat bekannte Modemarken wie Hugo Boss und Adidas. Jeans sind sehr beliebt.

Germany is known for practical and high-quality clothing. Well-known German fashion brands include Hugo Boss and Adidas. Germans often buy clothes at markets or department stores. Jeans and T-shirts are very popular among young people. Eco-conscious shopping (second-hand, recycled fashion) is becoming increasingly popular.
