Die Lektion handelt von Gesundheit: Körperteile und Krankheiten auf Deutsch.

This lesson covers the topic of health. We learn important body parts like head, stomach, arm and leg. We also learn how to describe pain and illnesses in German and what to say at the doctor's visit.

Körperteile: Kopf, Bauch, Arm, Bein. Krankheiten: Erkältung, Fieber. Medikamente: Tablette.

Body parts: der Kopf (head), der Bauch (stomach), der Arm (arm), das Bein (leg). States: krank (ill), gesund (healthy). People: der Arzt/die Ärztin (doctor). Places: das Krankenhaus (hospital). Illnesses: die Erkältung (cold), das Fieber (fever). Medicines: die Tablette (tablet). Activities: schlafen (to sleep), Sport treiben (to do sport). Expression: Schmerzen haben (to be in pain).

Mir tut der Kopf weh (Dativ). Ich muss schlafen. Du sollst Tabletten nehmen.

Dative with body parts: "Mir tut der Kopf weh" (My head hurts - mir is Dative of ich). Modal verb müssen expresses necessity: ich muss (I must). Example: Ich muss schlafen gehen (I have to go to sleep). Modal verb sollen gives a recommendation: du sollst (you should). Example: Du sollst Tabletten nehmen (You should take tablets).

In Deutschland gibt es gute Ärzte und Krankenversicherung für alle.

Germany has a very well-developed healthcare system. Almost all citizens have health insurance. Doctor's visits are often free or very inexpensive. There are general practitioners (Hausärzte) and specialists (Fachärzte). German pharmacies sell medicines; many medicines require a prescription.

For the exam: learn all body parts with gender. Practise the Dative (Mir tut... weh; Ihm tut... weh). Conjugate müssen and sollen fully. Write a dialogue at the doctor's. Describe your illness symptoms in 5 sentences. Practise answers to the question: Was fehlt dir? (What is wrong with you?)
