This lesson covers the topic of food and drink. We learn the three main meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also get to know important food items like bread, soup, meat, vegetables and fruit.

mir (Dativ) = für mich. Ich esse den Apfel (Akkusativ: den, nicht der).
Dative after mögen/schmecken: "Das schmeckt mir gut" = This tastes good to me (mir = me, Dative). In Accusative, definite articles change: der becomes den (masculine), die stays die (feminine), das stays das (neuter). Example: Ich esse den Apfel.
In Deutschland isst man mittags am meisten. Das Abendessen heißt oft "Abendbrot".
In Germany, lunch is traditionally the main meal. Breakfast often consists of bread with butter, cheese or cold cuts. Dinner is also called "Abendbrot" (evening bread) and often consists of bread and cheese. German cuisine is known for bread, sausage and potatoes.
