Wir wiederholen wichtige Wörter und lernen Strategien für die Prüfung.

In this lesson we revise and expand vocabulary for the exam. We learn synonyms, antonyms and thematic word groups on the topics of travel, health, work, environment and media. We also practise important reading strategies for exam section A.

Wichtige Wortgruppen für die Prüfung.

Word fields: Travel (journey, ticket, airport, to book), Health (illness, healthy, prescription, to recover), Work (profession, salary, position, to apply), Environment (environment, climate change, to recycle, sustainable), Media (news, internet, social media, to report).

Konnektoren verbinden Sätze und Ideen.

Important connectors: jedoch (shows contrast), außerdem (adds something), deshalb (gives a reason), trotzdem (shows contradiction), obwohl (subordinate clause - contrast), weil (subordinate clause - reason). With obwohl and weil the verb goes to the end of the subordinate clause.

In der CBSE-Prüfung muss man Texte verstehen. Strategien helfen dabei.

In the German exam (CBSE code 020) section A is reading comprehension. You must understand texts on current topics: environment, technology, society. German texts use many connectors and technical terms. Scanning and skimming are important strategies.

Lies die Fragen zuerst. Scanne den Text. Rate unbekannte Wörter.

Strategies for section A: 1. Read the questions first. 2. Scan the text for key words. 3. Guess the meaning of unknown words from context. 4. Pay attention to connectors: they show the structure of the text. 5. Check your answers again at the end.

Hard words & meanings

außerdem	Fügt eine zusätzliche Information hinzu
deshalb	Gibt den Grund oder die Folge einer Handlung an
trotzdem	Zeigt, dass etwas trotz eines Hindernisses passiert
obwohl	Leitet einen Nebensatz ein, der einen Widerspruch zeigt; Verb ans Ende
nachhaltig	Eine Methode, die die Umwelt schont und langfristig funktioniert
der Klimawandel	Die globale Veränderung des Klimas, oft durch CO2-Emissionen
sich bewerben	Sich um eine Arbeitsstelle bewerben, eine Bewerbung einreichen
skimmen	Einen Text schnell überfliegen, um den Hauptinhalt zu verstehen
scannen	Einen Text gezielt nach bestimmten Informationen oder Wörtern durchsuchen
das Synonym	Ein Wort, das dasselbe oder Ähnliches bedeutet wie ein anderes Wort
das Antonym	Ein Wort, das das Gegenteil eines anderen Wortes bedeutet
