Abschnitt A der CBSE-Prüfung hat 15 Punkte. Du liest Texte und beantwortest Fragen. Es gibt Richtig/Falsch-Fragen, Multiple Choice und offene Fragen. Eine gute Strategie hilft dir.

Section A (Reading) of the CBSE exam carries 15 marks. You read texts such as newspaper articles, advertisements and letters, then answer questions. The main question types are True/False/Not in the text, Multiple Choice and open questions. A good strategy saves time and earns more marks.

Nutzliche Ausdrucke: laut Text, dem Autor zufolge, im Gegensatz dazu, daruber hinaus, mit anderen Worten. Diese Worter verbinden Ideen.

Key phrases for reading comprehension: laut Text (according to the text), dem Autor zufolge (according to the author), im Gegensatz dazu (in contrast), daruber hinaus (furthermore), mit anderen Worten (in other words). These phrases show how ideas connect.

Subjunktionen verbinden Satze. Obwohl zeigt Gegensatz. Wahrend zeigt Gleichzeitigkeit. Nachdem und Bevor zeigen Reihenfolge. Das Verb kommt ans Ende.

Subjunctions link two clauses and show their relationship. Obwohl (although) shows contrast. Wahrend (while) shows simultaneity. Nachdem (after) and Bevor (before) show sequence. The verb goes to the end of the subordinate clause.

In deutschsprachigen Landern gibt es viele Textsorten: Zeitung, Magazin, Speisekarte, Brief, Fahrplan. Verschiedene Texte zu verstehen ist wichtig.

In German-speaking countries people read many text types: newspapers, magazines, menus, signs, timetables and letters. In everyday life short texts like advertisements and SMS are very common. Understanding different text types is an important skill.

Strategie: Lies erst die Fragen, dann den Text. Unterstreiche wichtige Worter. Bei offenen Fragen schreib vollstandige Satze. Uberprufe deine Antworten.

Strategy for Section A: read the questions first, then the text. Underline key words. For True/False/Not in the text: 'Not in the text' means the information appears nowhere in the passage. Write complete sentences for open questions. Use words from the text. Check your answers at the end. Watch for tenses and negations as they change meaning.
