In Germany, many young people begin their careers with an apprenticeship or an internship. After school, one writes an application and sends it to the employer. The CV shows what one has done so far. At the job interview, one introduces oneself and explains why one is suitable for the position.

Das Passiv zeigt, was passiert, nicht wer es macht. Relativsätze geben mehr Information über ein Nomen.

The passive voice: The form is being filled out. The position was filled. The applicant was hired. The passive describes a process where the acting person is not important. Relative clauses: The profession that I would like to choose is doctor. The company at which I want to work is in Berlin.

In Deutschland kann man im Betrieb und in der Schule gleichzeitig lernen. Das heißt duale Ausbildung.

The dual apprenticeship system in Germany is known worldwide. Young people learn at the company and at the vocational school at the same time. This training lasts two to three years. After the apprenticeship, many trainees have good chances of permanent employment. The employer pays an apprenticeship allowance during the training.
