غزل - حسرت موہانی Ghazal - Hasrat Mohani

भावार्थ: माशूक़ के हुस्न से पूरी महफ़िल रौशन है, फूलों की आग से पूरा चमन दहक रहा है। हैरत हुस्न के ग़ुरूर से है, बेचैनी उसकी शोख़ी से - देखो तो माशूक़ की आँख की जादू भरी नज़र यहाँ कैसी है। बहार में हरियाली और फूलों की बढ़वार ने पूरे चमन को शादाब (हरा-भरा) बना दिया है। बीच में शायर कहते हैं कि ज़ालिमों की बात सुनने से बेहतर है कि वतन की मुहब्बत का जज़्बा यूँ ही फैलता रहे। आख़िर में हसरत मीर जैसी सोज़-ओ-गुदाज़ (दर्द-भरी) शायरी की तारीफ़ करते हुए अपने कलाम में उसी लुत्फ़ की तमन्ना करते हैं।

Meaning: the whole gathering is lit up by the beloved's beauty, the whole garden ablaze with the fire of flowers. There is wonder at beauty's pride, restlessness at her playfulness - see how bewitching the beloved's glance is here. In spring the growth of greenery and blossoms has made the whole garden lush. Midway the poet says it is better that love of the homeland spreads on its own than that one listens to the cruel. In the end Hasrat praises Mir's passionate, tender style of poetry, wishing for that same delight in his own verse.
