Summary
Meaning: the pain never became indebted to any cure (medicine did not help either); I ended up neither good nor bad. Why do you gather rivals around you? It only became a spectacle, not even a complaint was voiced. They say even your lips' rivals (red fruits) did not lose their charm despite being cursed at. There is excited news of her arrival, yet today too the house has not even a mat to spread. Was that the godhood of Namrood? For all my devotion, nothing good came my way. I gave up my life - but that life too was hers to begin with; the truth is, even that debt was not repaid. Ghalib says: do recite something, for people say Ghalib did not sing a ghazal today.
