غزل - خلیل الرحمن اعظمی Ghazal - Khalilur Rahman Azmi

भावार्थ: तेरी आवाज़ का सदियों से इंतिज़ार है मुझे - मेरे ख़ून के समंदर पर ज़रा उभार दे। मैं अपने घर को बुलंदी पर चढ़ा हुआ क्या देखूँ - ऐ फ़न की बुलंदी, मुझे तो मेरी दहलीज़ पर उतार दे। मैंने सूरज से भी तारीकी उजलते देखी है - मुझे यह चमकीली सुबह वाली गली रास नहीं आती। अगर दिल कहेगा तो मैं पत्थर के पाँव चूम लूँगा - ज़माना चाहे मुझे लाख बार संगसार करे। मैं फ़ाक़ा-मस्त हूँ (भूख में भी मस्त), जिस राह से गुज़रता हूँ, ज़माने की उथल-पुथल भी मुझे सलाम करती है।

Meaning: I have awaited your voice for centuries - stir up my sea of blood, just a little. Why should I see my home raised upon some height - O pinnacle of art, set me down instead at my own threshold. I have watched darkness itself gleam brighter than the sun - this bright, golden-dawned street does not suit me. If my heart wills it I shall kiss even a stone's feet, though the world may stone me a thousand times over. I am one intoxicated by hunger; whatever road I walk, even the world's turmoil salutes me.
