वाख Vaakh (Sayings of Lal Ded)

कवयित्री कहती है कि वह ज़िंदगी रूपी नाव को कच्चे धागे से खींच रही है, यानी उसकी साधना अभी कमज़ोर है। उसे डर है कि कहीं वह भगवान तक पहुँचे बिना ही डूब न जाए; इसलिए वह चाहती है कि भगवान दया करके उसे इस दुनिया रूपी समुंदर के पार करा दें।

The poet says she is pulling the boat of life with a weak thread, her spiritual effort is still feeble. She fears she may drown before reaching God, and prays that He show grace and ferry her across the ocean of existence.

जैसे कच्ची मिट्टी के बर्तन में भरा पानी धीरे-धीरे रिसकर खत्म हो जाता है, वैसे ही मेरी ज़िंदगी और की हुई मेहनत बेकार बहती जा रही है; घर लौटने यानी मुक्ति पाने की तड़प मन को बेचैन किए हुए है।

Like water seeping away from an unbaked clay pot, her life and effort are draining away in vain; the longing to return 'home' (to liberation) keeps her restless and pained.

न तो ज़रूरत से ज़्यादा ऐश-आराम में डूबो और न ही बेकार में खुद को भूखा रखकर सताओ; ज़िंदगी में बीच का संभला रास्ता अपनाओ। यही सबको बराबर मानना और खुद पर काबू ही वे सच्चे काम हैं जो साधक को इस दुनिया रूपी समुंदर के पार ले जाते हैं।

Neither drown in indulgence nor starve and torment the body needlessly; follow the balanced middle path. Such equanimity and restraint become the true deeds that carry the seeker across the ocean of existence.

भगवान हिंदू-मुसलमान या किसी भेद में बँधा नहीं है; जो इंसान सबको बराबर मानकर खुद को पहचान लेता है, वही सच्चे शिव यानी भगवान को जान लेता है। भगवान सब में एक-सा बसा है, भेदभाव छोड़कर अपने-आप को पहचानना ही असली ज्ञान है।

God is bound to no division of Hindu or Muslim; the one who, through equanimity, truly knows the Self knows the real Shiva/God. God pervades all equally, giving up discrimination and recognising the Self is true knowledge.
