साखियाँ एवं सबद Sakhiyan evam Sabad (Couplets and Songs)

जिसके मन में प्रेम और भक्ति का साफ़ पानी भर जाता है, उसका मन हंस की तरह उजला हो जाता है और वह भगवान का नाम रूपी मोती चुनकर खुश रहता है। इतनी साफ़ जगह छोड़कर वह कहीं और नहीं जाता।

When the clear lake of love-devotion fills the heart, the mind becomes pure like a swan that picks pearls (God's name) and delights in it; it does not leave such purity to go elsewhere.

जब तक भगवान रूपी प्यारे से मिलना नहीं होता, यह दुनिया दुख से भरी और ज़हर जैसी लगती है। मिलते ही वही दुख मीठे रस जैसा हो जाता है। सच्ची भक्ति दुख को सुख में बदल देती है।

Until the soul meets the Beloved (God), the world tastes like poison; the moment of union turns that very pain into nectar. True devotion converts sorrow into joy.

समझदार साधक हाथी की तरह अपने रास्ते पर डटकर चलता रहता है। बुराई करने वाले कुत्तों की तरह भौंकते रहें, फिर भी वह नहीं डगमगाता। अपने लक्ष्य पर टिके रहना ही बड़ी बात है।

The wise seeker walks his path firmly like an elephant; let critics bark like dogs, he stays unshaken. Steadfastness toward the goal is true greatness.

दुनिया अपने-पराये (हिंदू-मुसलमान, अलग-अलग मतों) के झगड़ों में फँसकर सच्चे भगवान को भूल गई है। जो इन भेदभावों से ऊपर उठकर बिना पक्षपात के भक्ति करता है, वही सच्चा संत है।

The world, lost in disputes of this-side and that-side (sects, Hindu-Muslim), has forgotten the true God; one who rises above these divisions and worships impartially is the real saint.

बस ऊँचे खानदान में पैदा होने से कोई बड़ा नहीं बन जाता, जैसे सोने के घड़े में रखी शराब भी बुरी ही रहती है। आदमी की पहचान उसके खानदान से नहीं, उसके अच्छे गुणों और कामों से होती है।

Mere birth in a high family makes no one great, wine kept even in a golden pot is still condemnable. A person is judged not by lineage but by virtues and deeds.

भगवान खुद कहता है, ऐ बंदे, मुझे मंदिर-मस्जिद, काबा-कैलाश, तीरथ या पूजा-पाठ की रस्मों में मत ढूँढ़। मैं तो तेरी ही साँस में, हर जीव के अंदर बसा हूँ। सच्ची खोज अपने भीतर है, बाहर नहीं।

God says, O seeker, do not look for me in temple or mosque, Kaaba or Kailash, pilgrimages or rituals; I dwell within your very breath, inside every being. The real search is inward, not outward.

ज्ञान की आँधी आते ही धोखा, लगाव, मोह-माया, ढोंग और लालच रूपी छप्पर-खंभे सब उड़ या गिर जाते हैं। मन की बुराइयाँ धुल जाती हैं और भीतर भक्ति की साफ़ बारिश होती है, जिससे साधक भगवान से जुड़कर खुशी से भर उठता है।

When the storm of true knowledge blows, the roof and pillars of illusion, attachment, hypocrisy and greed are torn away; the mind's impurities are washed, an inner rain of devotion falls, and the seeker, united with God, is filled with bliss.
