घर की याद Longing for home

जेल में सावन की बारिश; पानी गिर रहा है, रात-भर बरसा। कवि के मन में घर तैरने लगता है - वह घर जो दूर है, पर खुशियों से भरा है।

In jail during monsoon rain; water falls all night. Home floats in the poet's mind - far away but full of joy.

घर में चार भाई, चार बहनें; माँ पढ़ी-लिखी नहीं पर प्यार से बच्चों को संभालती है। पिताजी बहुत मजबूत, बूढ़े नहीं लगते, पर कवि को याद कर रो पड़े होंगे।

Four brothers, four sisters at home; mother cares with love though unlettered. Father is strong as steel but may weep remembering the poet.

कवि खुद को पाँचवें और बदकिस्मत बेटे कहता है - जेल में बँधा, घर से दूर। उसे लगता है पिता सोचेंगे बेटा भूल गया; माँ कहेगी - वह ठीक है, रोओ मत।

The poet calls himself the fifth, unlucky son - bound in jail, far from home. He fears his father thinks he forgot them; mother would say - he is fine, don't cry.

कवि सावन से कहता है - घर जाकर बताना सब ठीक है, पर जेल की तकलीफ मत बताना। माता-पिता की आँखों से आँसू न आने देना; वज़न कम हुआ, पर हिम्मत है।

The poet asks the monsoon - go home, say all is well, but don't tell of jail's pain. Don't make parents weep; weight is lost but spirit remains.

कविता घर-परिवार के गहरे लगाव, दूर होने के दर्द और अपनी ज़मीन से जुड़ाव का गीत है। देश-प्रेम और परिवार-प्रेम एक साथ दिखते हैं।

The poem is a song of deep attachment to home and family, the pain of separation, and love of one's roots - patriotism and family love together.
