भावार्थ: जो लोग काम के वक़्त आराम किया करते हैं, वे बहुत नादान (मूर्ख) हैं और बुरा करते हैं। ऐसे लोग आख़िर में नाकाम (असफल) रहते हैं। हमने समझदार लोगों से यही बात सुनी है - पहले काम करो, बाद में आराम करो।

Meaning: those who rest at the time meant for work are truly foolish, and they do wrong. Such people end up failing in the end. We have heard this very saying from wise people - first do your work, rest afterward.

भावार्थ: बहुत काम करने के बाद ही आराम में असली लुत्फ़ (मज़ा) मिलता है, और आराम के बाद काम करने में भी मज़ा आता है। जो दिन में ही सो जाए, वह शाम को क्या सोएगा? आराम और सुकून का असली मज़ा तो मुश्किल दिनों (मेहनत) के बाद ही मिलता है।

Meaning: true pleasure in rest comes only after much work, and work too becomes enjoyable after rest. One who sleeps during the day - what will he sleep after evening? The real pleasure of comfort and ease comes only after difficult, hard-working days.

भावार्थ: जिसे हर वक़्त सिर्फ़ आराम से मतलब रहे, और जो आराम की फ़िक्र में काम से ऊबा (बेज़ार) रहे - इसमें कोई तअज्जुब (हैरानी) की बात नहीं कि वह ग़रीब (मुफ़लिस) और नादार ही रहे। ऐसा आदमी काहिल (सुस्त), थका-हारा और लाचार ही रहता है।

Meaning: one who is concerned with rest at all times, and who, worrying about comfort, stays weary of work - it is no surprise that such a person remains poor and needy, lazy, worn-out, and helpless.

भावार्थ: हिम्मत वाले लोग काम को कभी अधूरा नहीं छोड़ते, जबकि सिर्फ़ आराम चाहने वाले लोग काम को कभी पूरा नहीं करते। जो लोग मेहनती हैं वे ही बाज़ी जीत जाते हैं, और सुस्ती व ग़फ़लत (लापरवाही) करने वाले हमेशा हार जाते हैं।

Meaning: courageous, determined people never leave their work half-done, while those who only seek comfort never finish their work. It is the hard-working people who win the contest, and those given to laziness and negligence always lose.
