पर्वत प्रदेश में पावस Parvat Pradesh Mein Pavas (The Rainy Season in the Mountain Region)

कवि कहते हैं कि पहाड़ी इलाके में बरसात का मौसम था और प्रकृति का रूप हर पल बदल रहा था। कभी धूप, कभी बारिश, कभी बादल, प्रकृति का रूप हर पल नया दिख रहा था।

The poet says it was the rainy season in the mountain region and the form of nature was changing moment to moment. Now sunshine, now rain, now clouds, nature's appearance looked new every instant.

करधनी जैसा फैला बड़ा पहाड़ अपनी हज़ारों फूल-रूपी आँखों से नीचे फैले तालाब को देख रहा है। यह तालाब एक बड़े दर्पण (शीशे) जैसा है, जिसमें पहाड़ अपनी बड़ी परछाईं देख रहा है।

The vast mountain, spread out in the shape of a belt (mekhala), gazes with its thousand flower-like eyes (drig-suman) at the lake spread below. The lake is like a huge mirror in which the mountain views its own enormous reflection.

झरने मोती की लड़ियों जैसे झर-झर गिरते हुए मानो पहाड़ के हृदय से उठ-उठकर उसकी शान गा रहे हैं। ऊँचे-ऊँचे शाल के पेड़ आसमान की ओर बिना पलक झपकाए, टिककर देख रहे हैं, मानो किसी ऊँची इच्छा या सोच में डूबे हों।

The waterfalls, falling cascading like strings of pearls, seem to rise from the heart of the mountain (girivar) and sing its glory. The tall shaal trees stare at the sky unblinkingly and steadily, as if lost in some lofty aspiration or thought.

अचानक बादल घिर आते हैं और देखते-देखते पहाड़ मानो उड़ गया, दिखना बंद हो गया। ऐसा लगता है मानो आसमान धरती पर टूटकर गिर पड़ा हो। चारों ओर बस बादल ही बादल छा जाते हैं।

Suddenly clouds gather and in a moment the mountain (bhudhar) seems to fly away and vanish from sight. It looks as if the sky (ambar) has broken and crashed down upon the earth. Clouds spread all around.

घने कोहरे में शाल के पेड़ डरकर मानो धरती में धँस गए। तालाब से धुआँ-सा उठता है, जिससे लगता है मानो तालाब जल रहा हो। कवि कहते हैं कि यह सब देखकर लगता है मानो इंद्र बादल की गाड़ी में बैठकर अपना जादू दिखा रहे हों।

In the thick mist the shaal trees seem to sink fearfully into the earth. Mist rises from the lake so that the lake seems to be on fire. The poet says all this looks as if Indra, seated in his cloud-vehicle (jalad-yaan), is weaving his magic (indrajal).
